I'm worried about my father...

Post by pap64 »

Today I learned something about my father that's been worrying me. He's been rectal bleeding for a week now, and didn't tell anyone till mom noticed an odd trail of blood in his leg. Today they went to the doctor which sent him to an specialist. They will go on Thursday hoping he will be treated right away.

I'm very worried. The only two reasons someone could suffer from rectal bleeding is Hemorrhoids and Colon Cancer...

The latter is very common, my dad is 60 years old and is already a prostate cancer survivor so its likely that he could have that...

I don't like asking people to pray for a stranger, but if you guys can help me pray for my father so that his condition is a minor one, of if its serious his treatment can be quick and painful.

I'm very worried... :(

Having Crohn's Disease myself...I know what a pain in the tush (pun intended) rectal bleeding can be....I will pray for your dad that the doctors can find out whether its Hemorrhoids and/or Colon Cancer or perhaps a type an Inflamatroy boewl Disease aka crohn's....and that its treatable....and for god to be with your father and your family as well as you during this hard time....

Thanks guys.

Well, I just found some more info on this. He got checked yesterday and he doesn't seem to have hemorrhoids, so it is something deeper that's causing the bleeding.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope it isn't cancer. If it is, I hope they've caught it in time to be curable. He will be in my thoughts and prayers as well.

I am very sorry to hear that but I hope your dad will be fine, it's probably just hamorrhoids (sp?).

My grandma had colon cancer two years ago, but, although the tumor wasn't really a small tumor they were able to cure her with surgery and chemo.

Well, I talked to my father about this. He says that he hasn't experienced any pain, that he hasn't bled in a while and hasn't noticed any drastic changes in diet and bathroom routines. It leads us to believe that it might be a side effect to a medicine he is currently taking.

You know how in the ads for medicines they mention a list of side effects and sometimes it includes sudden bleeding? Last week the doctor gave him some new medicine for his respiratory issues and I think this might be it.

We won't know for sure till tomorrow, but this might be small. I hope...

My dad is getting a colonoscopy on Monday, but the doctor told him that there's a big chance that it could be internal hemorrhoids. We were all surprised because our doctor said he didn't have them after he checked them, so imagine our surprise when he said that.

We still can't proclaim victory and this is just a suspicion, but it seems that his bleeding has stopped if I am not mistaken.

I will keep on praying that its nothing major or life threatening.

Good news! Dad just got the colonoscopy today and he's fine! It seems the bleeding was caused by a small internal hemorrhoid that got irritated briefly. But they checked everything and according to my mother he is fine and clean.

I want to thank everyone who prayed for the well being of my father and my family. I am sure your good thoughts helped a lot in his recovery.

Thank you! :)
