Why? This is the most talked about Disney DVD/Blu-Ray release of this or any other year! Seriously though, this is another great achievement by Disney.

Regarding the DVD art:

Image

I think it's okay, but it's still a little strange. Dopey looks REALLY interested in Snow White.

I saw the image for the Blu-Ray set and I think it looks really tempting.

You know, this rainbow cover kind of makes that off-brand sequel to the Snow White tale (where SW encounters the 7 dwarfettes, the Queen's sorceror-brother, and Carol Channing as Mother Nature) look plausible. That movie was very colorful, too.

But I do agree that the cover looks a lot better on the bottom half. But The Evil Queen's echoing Maleficent there.

Before anybody complains further about the colours, that's probably the CMYK version for colour corrected for print - It's going to a few shades darker on the actual release.

Yeah, this isn't the first Disney cover to have its color balance off in press materials. I believe the same thing happened to both Cinderella and Pinocchio's covers. I'm positive the cover will have more natural colors when released.

Here's a (very) rough mock-up I did simply by desturating the image and lessening the blue color balance a bit.

Image

Look what a difference such a minor adjustment makes. It's still not indicative of the final cover, though. The color scheme should look more like this:

Image

If anyone can color correct the high-res DVD cover to match that, then we'd have a good representation of what we'll see in stores.

I have to admit...I like this! Still not crazy about how modernized Snow White looks but all in all this is much better then what we started out with. I love the diamonds and the frame around the artwork a lot. I dunno.....I may have to buy it now. :P

The Walt Disney Company has still not confirmed a release date for the Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs Blu Ray /DVD other than to say it should be around the 26th of October!!! I look forward to seeing what the Cover Art will be like for the UK release!

Ah so the advert does clearly say that the blu ray packaging is a collectable, so perhaps it is lenticular(?) as you guys have been calling it.

I don't know why, but I'm not really too excited for this release. I guess I just feel that because I own the Platinum Edition (which was pretty amazing) and I don't think that there can be much of an improvement besides the picture and sound quality. Plus, what do you think the shrill will sound like in 7.1 Surround?

I'm on the fence of whether or not I should buy this. I guess whenever we get more info on it, I can decide then. But now, I really don't know if I should buy it or not.

If the Pinocchio blu-ray is any indication, this should look flat out amazing...

My guess for now is that that segment is for both. The BBFC usually mark things as Blu-ray when on Blu-ray (but they're only as good as the information supplied to them from the studios).
