More about Sleeping Beauty
Did you noticed that the links to Sleeping Beauty DVD relase or homepage on the official Disney DVD site are gone...???
But if you search it though the movie finder you'll find it as English/French DVD (good, at least it's getting another language track)
There's also an Spanish VHS with the new cover and says "La Bella Durmiente - Edición Especial"...

maybe the'll change once again the cover to be "platinum"... well, maybe not, but hope dies last...

Kinda odd. The site is still up, it's just not linked from the main DVD site as far as I can tell, which is what you're saying.

Yeah, http://disneyvideos.disney.go.com/ doesn't have any links or icons of Sleeping Beauty. Hmm. The links should return in a week or so.
I think a similar event occured with Beauty and The Beast Platinum Edition and The Lion King.

They've also removed Sleeping Beauty from the release calendar, but I think it's still up at disneystore.com. Maybe they're changing the release date, or the cover art (again) or the extras that will be included on the discs. I hope they don't skip out on the Collector's Edition and just release a standard edition like last year's Hunchback of Notre Dame release.

I certainly hope not too!!! I also hope they don't push the release date back even farther... Although, if they have been getting a lot of people inquiring why this isn't platinum, perhaps, they have pushed the date back, in order to make it spring platinum, or as Prince Adam mentioned, maybe they are making it standard, so the future Platinum edition will be something special and not just a rerelease with a differnt label.
However, my less dramatic, and more realistic explanation is that, they are reconfiguring the homepage to show the new DVD cover art. (I hope it isn't one of the worser 2 things mentioned above

Well, you guys aren't going to like this, but I know what is going on with this release. Go here:

As you can see, Disney has decided to go back and digitally add a mustache to the Prince in every frame of the movie. Apparently someone at the top decided that it would look more 'manly' to give him facial hair. So, now in addition to that they have to change all the packaging and promotional artwork as well.

Screw new songs like "human again" this is the way to go! I'd love to see Aladdin with a stubble and the Genie with body hair, that way he looks more like Robin Williams

How about a Pocahontas who looks like the real Pocahontas? Anyone who's seen the Character Design supplement on the R2 discs (or the expensive US Laserdisc) knows what I mean...

Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
Personally I wonder if Disney are slowly phasing out the Platinum brand name with Sleeping Beauty being the first disc released without it. After all, now that the "Gold" collection has been dropped, the Platinum title doesn't really make much sense. No other countries have had the Platinum branding (presumably because they missed out on the Gold Collection branding too).STASHONE wrote:I hope this gets pushed back till Spring so that it can be released under the Platinum title or at leats that this SE/Platinum thing gets clarified before the DVD drops.
