Did anyone else ever see this movie? On a whim, I looked and lo and behold it was available at my local library. so I borrowed it and watched it.
It was interesting. Would it fly in the United States? Probably not (which probably is why it's never been dubbed and received a mainstream theatrical release here).
But, viewing it for what it was (made for a local market) I enjoyed it.
The good: the story was easy enough to follow, even with the subtitles. And I found myself caring about the characters. And for a low budget production, the animation was not that bad. It certainly wasn't up to Pixar standards but it was nowhere near as awful as the first Hoodwinked.
The bad: the art direction is a little off. Sometimes the dogs walk around upright, as if they're human (think Robin Hood). Other times they run around on all fours. It just doesn't seem consistent. Also, the story is full of cliches - some of them really bad and much of it feels like stuff we've seen before 100 times.
The interesting: the music. It's definitely a Bollywood-style production, but not Bollywood-style music. All that being said, it's at times catchy and fun. They also evidently spoof a number of Bollywood movies, which not having seen many, didn't make any sense to me, but I imagine would be understood by an Indian audience.
All in all I enjoyed the movie and I ordered it from Amazon.
One thing I wasn't expecting, was this Mickey Mouse short on the front of the movie. The movie was released in India for Diwali (which I understand is their biggest holiday) and this short shows Mickey and Donald making preparations to celebrate it:

The other thing was you can see how badly they wanted this to succeed. Disney even made Meet & Greet characters for Romeo & Laila (the two main characters) for the premiere:

So, has anyone else seen this? What did you think?
