Cartoon Network - Going Reality??

Hey, I'm sorry if there's already a thread for this, but I didn't see one.

I went to the movies today at AMC, and on the AMC's Firstlook (the commercials before the previews) I saw an ad with the kid from "Role Models" talking about "CN REAL" - reality programming on the cartoon network.

I am shocked and appalled! Out of all the TV stations who would have thought that the CARTOON Network would have reality programming! I think that defeats the purpose of the station.

Thoughts?

Apparently, they thought it would be a great idea to cut out the first word of the name, and keep the second one. Which like you said, kills the entire purpose of the channel. No cartoons, no ''Cartoon'' Network.

When will the people learn that live action simply does not go with the channel? Just look at ''Out of Jimmy's Head'' which was a terrible show in my opinion. I hear the movie was pretty decent though.

Cartoon Network just keeps getting worse and worse every year. Adding reality shows is not going to make things any better. The only thing worthwhile about the network anymore is Adult Swim.

I get annoyed when channels stray away from their original premise. Just look at what happened to G4 (For those who do not know, G4 was once a network dedicated to airing shows related to video games.)

See, to a certain extend I understand why G4 updated its theme. As popular as videogames are they still mainly attract a small fanbase, and that small fanbase would be the only one watching, so the profits and the ratings would be low because of the niche concept.

But from my understanding Cartoon Network was doing great as an animation channel. They had a lot of hit shows and they were considered one of the best places to find new and exciting animation.

I really, really, REALLY miss the original animated series. Chowder and Flapjack are good, but they are the few original series on the station. Now its either Canadian or live action.

Any word on Boomerang, the sister channel that's now basically the real Cartoon Network?

Cartoon Network is dead, end of story. But it's not like they are alone. When was the last time you saw a music video on MTV? Fact is, the original cable networks are all jumping ship!

Let's not forget about the SciFi channel changing in the the SyFy Channel - to include programming that's not Science Fiction as well.

I think the cable networks are forgetting their purpose. Are they really suffering rates that badly? Even if they are, I think being untrue to their loyal audiences will cause them to drop even more.

Good point. I think the list could go on for a while if we really took the time. I agree with your feelings by the way. This is why in part I don't care if I ever have cable again, I just watch tv on DVD.

Yes, I remember "Vault Disney." I guess they feel it does not need to exist becuase a lot of it is on DVD? I don't know, if you ask me these networks are run by monkeys!

Yeah I still to this day don't get why WWE's ECW airs on Sci Fi....I mean when I first heard that it aird of Sci Fi I am like who is it? the ultimate Stars battle it out: Luke Skywalker and Han Solo tag team against Captain Kirk and Spock.. or Darth Vader VS the Blob??

I mean what do they do...dress Hornswaggle up as Yoda???

For those who care, the kiddy "Ghost Hunters" clone that is on Cartoon Network is free at ITunes. I didn't bother to download it...
