The Mickey and Minnie float - They just repaint it and change the characters clothes time to replace it.
Pinocchio float - finally Snow white has her prince in a parade another old design needing replacment
Aladdin float - Who's dumb idea was it to make the carpet only big enough for one person? That's not what happened in the movie Aladdin was ridiing it with Jasmine while wearing his prince outfit
Villains float - since when do Villians celebrate anything good idea to take it out. It's probably sitting parked in a garage.
Peter Pan float What is that thing in the middle and why is Alice on it? Put some of the characters on the back on it.
princess float - put Aurora on it ditch the mermaid.
castle float - another float that keeps getting a new paint replace it.
I liked the dancers costumes and I hope they use them again next year.
Why do they keep reusing the same floats that's boring.
celebrate parade my opinion
Here's my thoughts about the new version of the 3 PM parade compared to the previous:
I find the replacement of ALL of the approximately 28 walking "fur" characters between each float with dancers wearing identical (but different colored) costumes disapointing.
Not to knock the dancers or how hard they work, but having wave after wave of them all dressed the same between EVERY float where tons of "fur" characters used to be makes the parade less magical and memorable, and less "Disney" IMO.
The street-level walking "fur" characters between the floats actually related to the characters on the floats and made the flow of the parade more cohesive, IMO.
Plus, without the walking characters, the young and young at heart can no longer experience the magic of having the characters come over for a handshake, high-five, or hug.
To say something positive about the current "Celebrate" version of the afternoon "Dream Come True" parade, I think Pluto, Goofy, Donald, and Chip & Dale look a lot cuter on the last float now with their colorful party hats, then they did with their blue "Year of A Million Dreams" uniforms in the previous version. And the new theme song is catchy.
But for many people, myself included, the primary appeal of the parade has always been the characters! I can remember a time when people commonly called the MK afternoon parade the "character parade", and I've been told by folks at Guest Relations and in Entertainment that the most common complaint about the 2009 "Celebrate" version of the parade is they took soooo many characters out...
By keeping all of the same floats (with a modified lead-off Mickey/Minnie float) and basically only changing the music and replacing approximately 30 characters with dancers, this will naturally invite comparisons between both versions of the parade.
Here is a list of walking characters missing from the current version of the parade that were previously in it as recently as January 2009 - all replaced by wave after wave of dancers in those identical (though different colored) costumes. This is off the top of my head... I may have forgotten some...
Before Mickey float:
1) Fantasia Brooms (I'll count these as just one)
Between Mickey and Pinocchio/Snow White float
2) Pinocchio Donkeys (there were usually two, I'll count them as one)
3) Foulfellow
4) Gideon
Between Pinocchio/Snow White Float and Aladdin/Pooh/Poppins float:
5) Grumpy
6) Happy
7) Doc
8) Sleepy
9) Sneezy
10)Bashful
11) Tweedle Dee
12) Tweedle Dum
13)Piglet
14) Eeyore
15) Tigger
Between Villains Float and Pan Float:
16) Stitch
17) Brer Fox
18) Brer Bear
19) Baloo
20) Robin Hood
21) Friar Tuck
22) Rafiki
23) Meeko
Between Pan Float and Princess Float:
24) Susie
25) Perla
Between Princess and Finale Float
26) Flora
27) Fauna
28) Merriweather
