Diamond Line Discussion
This is a discussion about everything having to do with the new Diamond Line. Let's start.
So far, the Diamond Line has "Snow White" and "Beauty and the Beast" announced. It is unsure if the 2 "Fantasia" films will be Diamond or Platinum. There are also rumors that "Alice in Wonderland" and "The Lion King" are gonna be released in 2011. What improvements would you like to see from the Platinum Line to the Diamond Line?

As far as The Lion King and Beauty And The Beast go... I would really like to have the original theatrical releases, minus the added musical numbers and reanimated scenes (and I'm not talking about colours... so please keep that discussion in the other thread.)
Also I think it would be nice to see really nice sets for The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and Hercules show up in this collection.
Alice In Wonderland should look brilliant on Blu-ray ! Maybe lose some games from the Masterpiece Edition and replace them with some deleted scenes, or things from the vault ?
Hope they keep up the nice gift sets as well... While I don't care for Snow White enough to buy the gift set, I wouldn't mind having the other movies I mentioned !
The Platinums quickly went down hill... Would be nice if Disney treated this Diamond Collection sort of like The Criterion Collection !

Ok, I'm positive that you can watch the Original Theatrical Version of "The Lion King" on the platinum edition, and pretty sure you can do the same with "Beauty and the Beast." I know "The Lion King" defaults to the newer version if you just click play, but the original theatrical version can be played if you explore the menu options. I would assume the same would apply for "Beauty and the Beast" too.JDCB1986 wrote:Yeah, I mean... leave those versions as options...xxhplinkxx wrote:Well, I really like the addition of Human Again, but can definitely do without Morning Report.
But also give us the option of watching the true Original Theatrical Version.

You can't watch the ORIGINAL Theatrical Version on the PE DVD - You can only watch the Special Editions without the new songs branched in, which includes all the IMAX edits and other tweaks (see the UD review for each -they are fairly major changes).Simba3 wrote:Ok, I'm positive that you can watch the Original Theatrical Version of "The Lion King" on the platinum edition, and pretty sure you can do the same with "Beauty and the Beast." Ok, point taken. I guess I just assumed he meant the version without the new song.drnilescrane wrote:You can't watch the ORIGINAL Theatrical Version on the PE DVD - You can only watch the Special Editions without the new songs branched in, which includes all the IMAX edits and other tweaks (see the UD review for each -they are fairly major changes).Simba3 wrote: Ok, I'm positive that you can watch the Original Theatrical Version of "The Lion King" on the platinum edition, and pretty sure you can do the same with "Beauty and the Beast." I too would love to see the Original Theatrical Releases. I hope that Beauty and the Beast will be a 3-Disc Set so that they can put the 4 Editions (Original Theatrical, IMAX, Work-In-Progress, and 3D) on the first 2 discs.

Agreed, out of ALL the awesome songs of TLK, they chose the WEAKEST to animate! I would have rather something more dramatic like Endless Night or Shadowland. Or something more entertaining like Chow Down or The Madness of King Scarxxhplinkxx wrote:Well, I really like the addition of Human Again, but can definitely do without Morning Report.
