It's bad enough it's been clogging threads in the Disney forum, but to purposely create a thread for it to happen in is angry mob worthy. Especially since both sides resort to personal attacks or just repeat the same thing over and over.

Now where's my torch and pitchfork I'm coming for you!

I think zackisthewalrus had good intentions in creating this thread....trust me on this....I get sick of seeing of threads DVD VS Blu Ray started in threads that only announce DVD releases or Only Blu Ray releases....Or even in a thread that says Tarzan rocks and someone brings up better on blu ray or something or DVD Sucks or Blu Ray stinks like rotten apples on a mac......Like I said in a previous thread....and I now agree with what I posted..........let me sub paraphrase Heath Ledger playing The Joker

HDDVD VS Blu Ray....those wars were just the beginning....now since Blu Ray defeated HDDVD....it's going after DVD and you only thought the format war was won....no no Blu Ray won the battle but they have not won the war.....yet.....

Blu-Ray's been around for awhile and for the most part, I'm not impressed. It's mostly new movies that are getting the treatment, the new movies are still being made to look better than the classic or older films, smaller studios can't keep up with the big ones, the big ones have too many older films to get on Blu-Ray - so they're rushing through transfers and those older films aren't getting the jobs most of them deserve:

Halloween (1978) - the company finally gets the immortal Halloween on Blu-Ray and... the background is still GRAY! What's so FREAKING hard about fixing that color and making it BLUE? It's the way John Carpenter made the movie and it's Halloween, for God's sake!

I like Horrordvds' system, they have a way of rating these transfers according to how the best Blu-Ray titles look. And considering that, you know what? A B-grade transfer isn't good enough!

HDD gave bueller's picture a 4/5, while citing that the image had flaws. The same thing happened with DVD, and we have seen it. There are classic films that are cited as bigger the Bueller, like Grease. That one seemed to get it right.

Except for the audio, that is. Grease was remixed horribly, and the original soundtrack isn't even on the disk.

But people tend to forget that this isn't a 'one release only' deal. Like DVD, there will be many rereleases. Anchor Bay was infamous for that with Halloween and Evil Dead, and they will do that again and again. And Lazario, apparently the Dean Cundey approved version was never done in HD. So, in order to release it on Blu they would have to let Cundey do the entire timing all over again. That's going to take time, and what the studio is concerned it's also a perfect opportunity for a double dip.
And of course there are mishaps. They happen on every medium. Older masters being used, no lossless audio, not putting all of the extras (or none) on a disk and the worst: DNR. Somehow people think that Blu-Ray is all about a crystal clear image only used to show off the HT set they have. Well, it isn't. It's about recreating how the film is supposed to look. For some films that means there will be grain. Removing it only makes the films look worse. Look at Patton, Gangs of New York or the Star Trek films on Blu. They look horrible.
