Well, this is my latest Disney themed piece besides my Wayne Allwine tribute and some sketches:

Image

I have a ton of other Disney art on my DeviantArt.com gallery ( http://www.slave2moonlight.deviantart.com ), and this is by far my most popular piece:

Image

I do have a thread for my Disney Art here, but I don't use it much anymore because not too many people look at it anyway, ha.

Nice work, and I've especially enjoyed how you've been adding to the Disney Girls pic over time. :)

And yeah, I've got my own fanart thread here too, but haven't looked at it in ages. I was a lot more . . . I dunno, self conscious back then. My posts in there make me cringe now so I avoid it like the plague. :p

Ok, I know this isn't *technically* Disney but since I'd heard DiC was almost bought out by them several years back, I used to wonder if she'd sort of be a Disney character someday . . . so anyway, here's Sailor Moon, Disney style:

And here's a different take I did on KP, she's chibi!

I also did a new pic of Tiana somewhat recently (the one I'm currently using for my avatar) but I can't exactly show it or link to it here. :p

Wow, those are incredible! I LOVE how the Sailor Moon one turned out! I've been meaning to do some Disney-style Sailor Moon stuff for a while, but haven't gotten around to it. Used to sketch them like that in college though.

Yeah, I wish she had become a Disney character. I was always disappointed that they never had any Sailor Moon merchandise at the Japanese department store in EPCOT when I would go, though one time they did have a girls' T-shirt, which my little sister got, and some very overpriced playing cards. I've seen them carry stuff from so many lame Japanese franchises that it was rather annoying. Some Kiki stuff would have been nice too. I did end up with a lot of American-made Sailor Moon collectibles though (and a few actual Japanese ones), and now I'm wondering if I should sell some off since I'm trying to streamline my collections. But, I'm having trouble selling stuff anyway since it's expensive and a hassle to get started on Ebay and it seems no one is buying there anymore but me, ha. Got a little off topic though, sorry.

Anyway, yeah, I though DIC was a Disney company for quite a while since someone once told me the D in DIC stood for Disney, and they did have Sabrina the animated series on the Disney Channel for a while. Man, I wish that would get a DVD release. Guess I'm going to have to break down and order that "Best Of" release from a while back, and the couple of one discers I haven't bought already.

Oh, and thanks for posting, EW, because I'm such a thread killer, ha, I thought I'd killed this thread too. It's the reason I often disappear from webboards for long periods. I don't get much friendly interaction aside from two or three people. Mainly only the meanies acknowledge me, ha. In general I tend to be ignored here at U.D. for some reason.

I love both of them, enigmawing! Like Nathan said, I especially love how the Sailor Moon one came out. Especially the details you added to her hair.

Anyway, here are two drawings I have done. Recently I wrote a silly little poem called the Seven Princely Sins where I compared each Disney Prince to a sin in their own way, and decided I would do some illustrations for them. I know my drawing skills are less than stellar, but they're the best I could do. :p

I'm currently working on the Sloth/Charming one now.

What is it with you people always making connection on Sailor Moon with Disney? Where the hell that comes from? I mean why you want Sailor Moon be Disney? I don't get it.

anyway, As for other idea for that prince sin, here:

sloth/charming

pride/Neevan- has a prideful personality

wrath/ beast- nuff said

envy/ aladdin- envy that he wanted to live the life in a palace

greed/eric- Want only the perfect girl with that singing voice (maybe that's lust...?)

Thanks guys, I really had fun with the Sailor Moon one. :)

The seven princely sins look like a lot of fun!!!

Super Aurora: I can't speak for anyone else, but I do know there's a lot of fans out there that like both Disney and Sailor Moon; in fact, the whole reason I met the friend that introduced me to Sailor Moon was because she was also a Disney fan.

Anyway, I've always liked mixing things up and trying to draw cartoon characters in the style of another. Guess it doesn't hurt that my own personal drawing style naturally tends to gravitate to the Disney look anyway.

And at least I'm not drawing Disney Princesses as Sailor Senshi like some others are doing. :p

While I'm here, I can't remember if I've posted this one here yet, but it's a little older and I think I had it as an avatar for a while:

I added the glitter animation at Blingee.com and cropped out their watermark with ImageReady. :D

That is an excellent Ariel drawing enigmawing - I'd love to see a drawing of the Wicked Queen or the Witch/Peddler Woman from Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs please !!

Well, I do remember enigmawing showing us a "gothic" Snow White drawing of hers, once. But it's been a few years now. Wonder if she can pull it out from under the rug and show it to us again *hint hint*. :P

I love the Ariel, engimawing. The texture detail alone you gave to her tail is amazing.
enigmawing wrote:The seven princely sins look like a lot of fun!!!
Thanks! I'm hoping to have them all finished sometime soon, but my summer bio class keeps eating up my time. I really wish I was able to color them as well digitally, but unfortunately my digital painting skills suck. :p

Thanks for the suggestions, Super Aurora! Originally in my poem I had Eric as pride, Beast/Adam as wrath, Aladdin as greed, and Herc as envy (since he wishes to be a hero like the other gods). Although I like the idea of Naveen a lot better as pride/vanity, and it just fits him so much better, so I might go and change that then now.

Disney Drawing

Post by Disney Duster »

Yea enigma that's a good Sailor Moon, and I like Ariel's tail and hair!

Tim, shouldn't the horse look like Sampson? Or at least have that signature long hair curl? The film's style? And maybe show Phillip's curl peeking from under the hat? It actually looks like Phillip is lusting after the horse, but I'm guessing the horse is there to represent lust in animal form?

And I know why that dagger is there in that spot. I know.

Prince Charming is sloth. He's the Prince that does the least to go after his princess...unless Snow White's Prince was merely riding around for fun and then stumbled on his old crush and thought "eh, why not a kiss?" I mean he did leave her in the beginning. I never got why Snow White wanted him, sang about him, but didn't let him take her away in the very beginning? Too shy? She looked like a servant?

Here are my two cents on this: The reason I believe many Disney fans enjoy Sailor Moon is because the manga and TV series is very "Disney" in its presentation. It has the same appeal the Disney Princesses have.

Many girls see Sailor Moon as themselves and see their dreams lived through her character. She is a very lazy girl that is failing school that is in reality a princess from another universe, becomes a super hero, dons the cutest outfits, has some amazing magical powers and has a fairy tale crush on Tuxedo Mask. It also had a strong theme of hope, optimism and friendship. Similar themes have been seen on many Disney films.

Its a similar effect the Disney Princesses have on girls. They love the fantasy, the mythology and the characters and wish to be them. And both Disney and Sailor Moon capitalized on this heavily with multiple projects, animated series and such that made sure girls were addicted to it.

One thing I noticed is that like the Disney Princesses girls who grew up watching Sailor Moon as adult women either idolize the series as something of great childhood nostalgia or realized that they were dumb and deny they even liked the series, in the same way that former Dragonball fans admit they now hate the series.

Sorry for derailing the thread, guys. I just wanted to note that I too noticed the connection between Disney and Sailor Moon and wanted to explain why that happens. I hope this gives you a better idea of why, Super.

Thanks everyone! Feedback is always an inspiration. :)

Deco King, I'm not currently taking requests at the moment but I've certainly been planning on drawing the Queen sometime soon. :D When I do I'll be sure to post it . . . I haven't done enough evil pics lately. ;)

Julian, seems like I remember you asking about that one a long time ago. I've only drawn one goth Snow White that I can remember; I'm guessing I'd have only posted it at dA and not here given the nature of the image. ;) However, both dA and imageshack deleted it on me ages ago and I no longer have the original file. And even if I did, given what I've seen in the previous pages of this thread it wouldn't be a good idea to link it. I'll keep my eyes open though, I'm sure it's floating around on some sites somewhere if I scout around enough.

Pap, I'm pretty sure you're on the mark there with the Sailor Moon/Disney Princess connection, thanks for putting it so eloquently. :) What girl wouldn't secretly wish discovering she was an unknown princess, had special secret powers, or a mysterious gentleman to fall in love with?

* * *

My boyfriend's been getting after me for a while to stop posting at dA and reserve my new work for my site. It's been hard, lol. I thrive on feedback and it's hard to wait out for putting all my ideas together. Anyway, this piece won't be going up at dA but I thought I'd give you guys a preview here anyway:

Image

Hopefully I'll have my site up and running soon with more new stuff to share, including Disney & other fanart as well as some original stuff. :)

Its fantastic! I just love how you drawn women. Their eyes are beautiful and even your sexy pinups manage to be classy without being slutty or dirty.

Actually, it's supposed to be a cow. I had the idea of each of the sin's animal sign would be behind them like "the sinful animal within." Gluttony - pig, lust - cow, sloth - goat, pride - horse, wrath - bear, greed - frog, envy - dog.

I didn't realize that my illustration skills suck that much that it isn't that noticable as a cow. :p

And lovely drawing, enigmawing! Something about her eyes and the smile/smirk especially to me seem that you captured the innocent yet questioning nature that she has in the film.
