That is true, I never thought of that before. Although with the plans for a Little Mermaid dark ride, LM will probably get represented more in terms of the Fantasyland area hopefully.David S. wrote:That was one of my first reactions too - that they were primarily focusing on the newer films at the expense of Walt-era classics. Then I thought about how most of the films that were depicted in MMR are already represented in Fantasyland, and the newer Renaissance films were basically not at all, except for the Lion King show that had to close in order for Philharmagic to open.
So I think it's a nice way to keep Simba in the show while adding Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin to Fantasyland.
I just had always hoped we had more representation of the older classics at Florida's Fantasyland other than Peter Pan and Snow White like at DL. We have nothing representing Sleeping Beauty like the walk-thru, and don't have anything Pinocchio or Alice related other than the tea cups and one restaurant.
Thank you! I'm glad that you enjoyed it! Snow White I'd say is my favorite ride in Fantasyland, so I find it fascinating how many multiple incarnations there are of it, with the original Disneyland version, the original WDW one, and now the current DL, WDW, Tokyo, and Paris versions which all differ in their own ways. I enjoy WDW's current version and love that it fleshes out more of the story, and I love the loading area mural, as well as the happy ending sequence with Prince and Snow. But I still miss and yearn for the Snow White's Adventures of my childhood with the psycho witch laughing and popping out everywhere, and where even the dwarfs cottage was gloomy looking and contained a shadow demon. It was a child's nightmare, and scared the hell out of me the first time when I was four and covered my eyes halfway through. My parents were worried and asked me if I was all right. I went on it again twice that day, with my eyes open and it became a favorite since.PS. Prince Philip Fan, a while ago you posted an AMAZING article detailing the history of each and every version of the Snow White darkride that ever existed in the Disney parks. I stayed up one night reading through the entire thing, and I think I forgot to thank you. So here's a belated thanks for posting that great article.
I can be a "purist" at times about the parks, but this is a case for me where the new WDW version is my favorite of the 4 versions I've exerienced (2 at DL, 2 at WDW) even though it differs the most from the original intent of the ride. I like how it mixes light, happy moments with the darkness that once dominated the entire ride, and is therefore more faithful to the film. And I LOVE the "happy ending" sequence currently at WDW!
