Awesome Pinocchio DVD review, Luke. While I do agree with most, if not all of your thoughts on Blu-Ray, I do think those sentiments should have been devoted to a different article. As annoying as the Blu-Ray fanboys that joined the forum for the sole purpose of bashing you are, I gotta agree with them that the Pinocchio review just wasn't the place for it.

But hey, it's your site, so if you want it in there, no big deal.

Keep up the good work. I sure hope the stress isn't getting to you.

I am so extremely excited for the new Lilo & Stitch DVD, thanks to Luke's great review!!! I am so excited for a 2-hour Disney documentary!!!

Also, nice Australia review, Kelvin! I loved the film, and I wish that there were more bonus features...I only have the DVD version, so I definitely don't have many bonus features. If a lot of the bonus features on the Blu-ray started out online, maybe they're still online...?

I loved the Follow That Bird review! I just love the film in general- even just seeing the pictures made me happy. (Even though it's the saddest movie ever.) I'm not planning on upgrading; I'd like to see the Carol Spinney interview, but I'm not paying $15.00 + for a short documentary, when I already own the film. But nice review!

I just read the new "Hannah Montana" compilation DVD review. Interestingly enough, WDW's Downtown Disney's World of Disney Store had this DVD out on Thursday when I was there, and it's not even due to be out until Tuesday (and yet that store wouldn't be getting the HM Movie soundtrack until Tuesday...hmmm). As always, I don't agree with Luke's thoughts on the show, but his teenybopper show reviews always make me smile... Question/comment: The review says "DVD Release Date: January 29, 2008", but it's being released March 31, 2009...

Luke likely re-used the html text/format from the "One in a Million" DVD review when he was formatting the page, and forgot to change the date (as that's when "One in a Million" came out).

Anyway, I read the blurb on the UD main page that the Bedtime Stories review was up and contained a Sprouse Twins Blu-Ray infomercial. Thinking "Okay...wtf?", I clicked it, skipped the review part (sorry, Luke!) and went straight for the bonus features. I was just when I read the paragraph, particularly the last sentence:

• Last but not necessarily least is "Dylan & Cole Sprouse: Blu-ray is Suite!" (5:55). Adam Sandler's Big Daddy co-stars and their "Suite Life of Zack & Cody" mom Kim Rhodes give us a quick rundown of what makes the high-definition format so superior to DVD. It's entertaining on two levels, both in that Disney has gone to the extreme of using recognizable actors for a short infomercial and that the Sprouse twins try hard to be witty in it. They fail to mention that the only place to see this wonderful extra is on standard DVD.

I don't think any other studio has done this yet, aside from the annoying video at Target where the guy says "Blu-Ray (tech stuff about screen resolution) than standard DVD", with "standard" said almost as if one would say "manure". Hilarious.

I'll get around to reading the rest of the Bedtime Stories review, though I will probably never ever see the movie, but in the meantime, that one paragraph alone is already worth a pink elephant.

Question, though:

The version that ends up here is the isolated version from the 1950s containing unique credits and a slightly altered opening.

I'm not planning on buying this release; could you maybe, please, tell us what makes the credits unique and what the slightly altered opening is?!? Pretty please with teacups on top?

Excellent review for Star Trek: Motion Picture Trilogy, Kelvin.



I won't be picking it up, as I received the original two-disc sets for all six films (back when Paramount gave them inserts and disc art) in 2004. Hopefully by the year's end our family will have finally gone Blu and I can pick the films up again in Blu-Ray.

I have a feeling there'll be additional releases, though. The Blu's only offer the theatrical editions for The Motion Picture, The Wrath of Khan, and The Undiscovered Country, and I'm sure Paramount will want to re-release those titles (and III, IV, and V) individually in the director's cuts (and regular cuts for III, IV, and V). The Director's Cut for The Motion Picture also had new CGI enhancements that would need to be re-rendered in HD, making an individual release more likely.

Princess Protection Program sounds abysmal, but Aaron's review definitely isn't! It's filled with a lot of good humor and critical thoughts, and I'm sorry that Aaron had to endure the DVD in order to produce such a hilarious review. I don't know what line was funnier: "Oh darn, I'm busy that night... and so is my TiVo" or "My review copy carried no such add-on, though, leaving me and my B.F.F. royally disappointed." Well done, Aaron, well done.



BTW, during this line: "Disney Channel Original Movies have long been framed for both fullscreen and widescreen ratios, with only the latter seeing the light of day in the US (at least until the rare Disney Channel Blu-ray release comes along)" you might want to change "latter" to "former"

I also really liked your review, Aaron- very funny! I'm actually so excited for the film (and my DVR isn't busy tonight, thank you very much!), but I still enjoyed your review. A friend of mine saw the film on Disney on Demand and said that it is her favorite DCOM. Nothing can overthow (haha, overthrow, royalty, get it!?!) the HSMs as my favorite DCOMs, but I think I'll really like PPP just based on the clips I've seen (and I really like Demi & Selena).

I want to get the DVD eventually, but I might have to wait for Christmas, since so much is coming out for the next few months and I have so little money, but I am excited!

And, as for Kelvin's JB DVD review, I was impressed with the lack of jabs at the band- it's obvious you're not really a fan of theirs, but you weren't mean about them, which I appreciated! And, I didn't know Big Rob had a last name until I read the cast list.

And the review mentioned it, about which edition to get; money is really tight now, so I don't know if I should spend the extra $10 (well, I'll know exactly how much when the Sunday paper comes) on the 2-disc version or just settle for the cheaper 1-disc version. I've been trying to budget for everything coming out in the next few months, and my lack of math skills and lack of knowing when the TBA titles are coming out is not helping me figure it out! But, the $5 coupon from JonasCoupon.com will help me make my decision, if I can get it to work (I haven't tried printing it out yet). Yeah, completely blabbing now...

Well thanks Amy I will contemplate that each time I see such things on what used to be Ultimate Disney.

You know, I guess it kind of reflects that the people who made the site may have moved on from Disney fandom...

Well, it's not so bad. Sometimes I think I should, and want to, love and really get into lots of other things other than Disney all the time...but I keep realizing I love Disney's the best, so much!

I was looking back a few weeks ago at an early post I made here, and it said something about how I'm not a movie person, just a Disney movie person, or something to that affect. I read it that day, and was like, Huh? Like, that is definitely true to some extent; I don't watch the "popular" films (like Transformers or Harry Potter[/i[ just because everyone else does), but I do love movies like Titanic, Pearl Harbor, Australia, & Gone With the Wind, and I love old movies in general...

Getting off track, but basically, I think that, as time goes on, people can be exposed to different kinds of movies that maybe they never were exposed to before, and they learn to love those movies, too.

But Luke has said in the past that the non-Disney reviews kind of became necessary since Disney wasn't putting out many noteworthy DVD titles, compared to a few years ago.

And, Albert, I just don't know what to say. So I'll just smile.

But Luke and almost everyone else also seem to populate the boards less than they used to, unless I am just not in the threads they are...

Though I heard many people don't like the current popular discussions, especially in the Disney discussion section, maybe because it's too princessy, or only about what's animated, or whatever. If there's enough people who don't want to talk about that, couldn't all those people keep a thread about something they do want to talk about afloat?

But anyway, do reviews keep the site afloat? Do Luke and everyone need reviews and info on DVDs in order to stay in business, even though I thought this was non-profit? If not, I think Ultimate Disney would just be slow, or try to get every little scarp of info and images they can and that's alright.


I can understand them just wanting to try covering other DVDs that they like, that's a good thing, but think it should just be Ultimate Disney and then DVDizzy. I think they said they were advertising DVDizzy on Ultimate Disney for some time, and then going to keep the to seperate. That still hasn't happened.

Well, maybe I'm repeating an old argument, but I thought the two site were going to be more seperate sometime...
