My bad. I read the article too fast. That's Christopher Walker, not Walken. I hope that's a typo in the article. I want to see Walken as pirate! :D I don't even know who Christopher Walker is.

I'm going to file Walken's casting under "Best Ideas Ever."

EDIT: And hopefully "Worst Typo's Ever"

As great as the Walken is (or as mysterious as this Walker is), I was pulling for the Johnny Depp/Hottie McHotHot romance adventure story I suggested on the first page. Damn you, Terry Rossio & Ted Elliot! Why didn't you come here and read our threads like the rest of Disney does?

^^^ Maybe Hotty Mc Hot Hot is too busy with Iron Man right now, but I doubt that there won't be a female lead in the movie, they're probably working on casting someone for the role.

I soooooo, so, so, so,so hope that Christopher Walken will definitely be in it.
Casting him could possibly be the best idea that disney has ever had, ever!

Maybe they can have Walken as another man to rival Depp & Rush for Hottie McHotHot 's affections or something (But unsuccessful of course).

Before it was just a rumor, so I don't know if this confirmed, but:

http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/ ... rview.aspx

As for the eagerly anticipated sequel that was originally supposed to have been Walt Disney Pictures & Jerry Bruckheimer Films' tentpole release for the Summer of 2011 (i.e. "Pirates of the Caribbean 4"), that movie first slid to Holiday 2011 and is now tentatively slated for release in the Summer of 2012.

That's nothing new. When they first announced Pirates 4 they said it will be for 2012.

2012 huh? Well, that is only three years. It goes by fast! In between that time we get a new "Iron Man," "Spider-Man," and maybe "Indiana Jones" from what I have been reading, but that is hard to say at this point.

I'm actually more interested in the "Fantastic Four" re-boot. I know a lot of others didn't like the films, but I did and am sad it didn't get another movie out of that version.

I'm just sick of "re-boots!"

Have read the article, not sure if it actually said any thing, but I like this bit
Depp said "that perhaps Captain Jack could show up in a geisha costume". He's joking. We think.

With Johnny Depp you can't be too sure if a comment like this it a joke or not, because he is likely to do something like that, oh i love it.
but I hope it was a joke, I don't think a geisha costume is becoming of Capitan Jack.

I would like Jack to tell the story behind the reindeer shinbone in his hair. Depp could have some fun with that.

SDCC Exclusive: Pirates 4 Starts Shooting Spring '10!
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=57429
(via community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt)

...

"We're going to shoot 'Pirates 4' in April and May of next year," Aviv told us during our interview. "We are going to release it hopefully in 2011 is the plan." He said that this time they would only be doing one movie this time that would "hopefully be the first of another trilogy."

"It's important to get the story right and it's important to me to scale it down, because we can't get bigger," Aviv admitted. "The movies have subsequently gotten bigger and bigger and very complicated and they were satisfying on so many levels obviously, but I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters." He agreed that there is a lot of Captain Jack Sparrow's back story that we haven't seen yet without confirming or denying that we might see some of that in the fourth movie...

This is amazing news. Not only the chance for another trilogy - but they know where they supposedly were lacking last time. I never found the plot to be too complicated in 2 and 3, but I saw the movies at least 3 times in theaters. The more times you see it, the more times you say to yourself "oh, yeah!".
I can't wait. And they're back to 2011 now! :)

wow 3 more potc movies! that will have more simple plots that gets :pink: :float:   :D :pink: from me!

I would like them to mention in one of the new movies how Jack got branded a pirate.

In a potc book I read the block of the story goes: in his younger years Jack did not want to be a pirate, despite that being the family trade.
He eventually started working for the East Indian Trading company, refused to follow orders to take a ship full of slaves to where they hade to be taken & then he freed all the slaves & got branded a pirate for it, then turned pirate & has not looked back.

Is Rob Marshall Dancing His Way into Directing Pirates 4?
Source: Variety July 31, 2009

Just one week after ComingSoon.net broke the news that Walt Disney Pictures is hoping to get the cameras rolling on the 4th "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie in April or May of next year, Variety is reporting that director Rob Marshall (Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha and the upcoming musical Nine) is in talks with Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer to helm the fourth chapter in the adventures of Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow. It makes sense that they would actively be looking for a director if they plan to start shooting next spring, especially with Gore Verbinski still being noncommittal about possibly returning for the fourth go-round.

While the contracts have yet to be signed, look for more news on the yet-to-be-titled PIrates of the Caribbean 4 as soon as it breaks right here on ComingSoon.net. In the meantime, let us know what you think about Rob Marshall taking on the franchise.
