A Scotch Plains man died Saturday night after his car careened off the road and hit a tree head-on.
Brian Mundy, 21, of Scotch Plains, was driving a 1999 Honda Civic westbound on Skytop Drive around 8 p.m. when he approached a hard right turn near Crest Lane and drove off the side of the road.
Scotch Plains police said his car hit a tree head-on and Mundy died from head and chest trauma.
No suspicious activity is suspected by the department, according to Det. Lt. Brian Donnelly, but the crash is under investigation.
Mundy was in the vehicle alone and wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. No other cars were involved, and police have yet to determine how fast he was traveling at the time of the accident.

I'm so sorry to hear about this.
I know what you're going through, I lost both a brother and a cousin to a car accident several years back and they were close to your cousin's age. I understand what a painful shock it is to lose someone you love so suddenly. Just know that you're not alone and that time heals all wounds. Turn to your family and friends for support and give yourself time to grieve.
"Feel not sorry for those we've lost, but for those they left behind." I pray for you and your family in this difficult time.

I'm so sorry for you and your family! My sister and a friend of mine have both been hurt in crashes before, but it's hard to imagine something like this actually happening. Rest in peace.

A pastor I know said that verse from the bible is not only for the people trying to get to heaven and are dead.....but for those of us who have burdens like such as if you have a friend who has cancer....just give the worries and troubles to god....now that does not mean when the Power Company calls to collect payment that you should say God will be paying for me....Matt wrote:thank you all. Today I learned in church that:
Matthew 11: 28
"Come to me, all of you who are weary and loaded down with burdens, and I will give you rest.
It's still hard, you know? He was ssooo young.
Anyway I am sorry to hear of your loss....I will pray for you and your family
