When I saw this on IMDb, I had a funny feeling that a tribute thread would pop up on here.

R.I.P. Bea. :(

I can't believe I'm just finding this out now. :(

Well, I can't say I'm surprised, as the past few times I've seen her make appearances, she's been extremely aged. But it feels so strange to know that she's gone now (I've often wondered how it will feel when today's icons pass, such as Britney Spears, Barbara Walters or Oprah--like them or not, it'll just be weird). I just feel sad because I haven't even seen half her work yet. All I can say is that Golden Girls just wouldn't have been what it was without her or Estelle. Rest in peace.

Now I'm depressed.

She was still working despite her age. She did a voice cameo on Futurama and believe did a couple of more gigs.

I never watched the Golden Girls as a kid, but I do remember her and Betty White from a Disney World special they hosted.

May she rest in Peace.

AWWWW what a great comment! So sad to think of them both gone now. :(

Thanks for the laughs Bea.
:( This is like the saddest thing ever. Me and my mom used to watch The Golden Girls together all the time, and my mom passed away 3 years ago too. :(

Thank you Bea for giving me so much pleasure! Not only as Dorothy in "Golden Girls", but as Maude in "All in the Family".

Hope you have a good time up there with Estelle Getty talking about the old times!

Here's a little video looking back on Bea and also they get Betty and Rue on the phone. I thought you'd like to see it.

I am still very down about this.

In case it wasn't already mentioned, Hallmark is running a marathon of The Golden Girls in the evening for the next few nights and I believe all day on Saturday. They also are going to run a marathon of The Golden Girls all day on Memorial Day (May 25).

May God have mercy on her soul. :(

It bothers me when people wish the dead to "rest" in peace, I think the afterlife is way more interesting than that, it's not like people are gonna lie there doing nothing forever.
I used to fear death... only because there was a part of me that felt like it was lame, but it only took one book to change my mind.
I'm currently reading "Dante's Inferno" (Medieval travel guide to Hell/Heaven basically), and now death seems almost like a trip to Disneyland.
I'm not saying that I'm looking forward to it, but maybe death isn't as brutal and scary as we assume it is, maybe it's the beginning of something way cooler than this s***hole of a life. (IMO at least :P )

The whole "May God have mercy on her soul" thing makes it sound like she was some awful woman who committed these terrible crimes... she wasn't.

Believe me, the last thing I want to do when I'm dead is rest. :P I've got people to visit (and maybe possess for fun), houses to haunt, and a lot of bowling to do.

I don't think he meant it that way, it's probably a phrase used differently in Dubai than in the US. After all, the phrase is essentially a prayer for God to take in that person's soul.

Albert's right Chris, I mean if there's this friend I know and his mother passed away, I'd say "May God have mercy on her soul", It doesn't matter who the deceased person is.

She's lived her life.

Post by brownpuppy »

Bea Arthur's was a sophisticated and witty charming female, I've seen on television. With The Golden Girls and Maude as her memorable legendary accomplished shows, she was not an actress to me she was an artist with powerful liberal skills. i'm so glad she lived during my childhood and my earl adulthood life and I nknew much about her as possible.

May she sleep in heavenly peace now, she's done her marvelous work in the past, we will always remember the strongest Golden Girl of all time. :)
