Post by jimdotbeep »

Have you ever wanted to see a certain charecter walking through the Disney park your visiting but at the same time knowing that they arn't going to be there. :(

Some Charecter's I would like to see

Basle of Baker Street
Prof. Ludwig Von Drake
Scrooge McDuck
THe Cheshire Cat
The Mad Hatter
Jack Skellington ( I am aware of how difficult this particular charecter would be)

CHARACTER SITING

Post by Prince Charming 12 »

A few years ago I had my picture taken with Scrooge McDuck in Fantasyland at WDW. It was during the holiday season and he was filling in for Donald at his stand- "selling Christmas trees". That was the only time I sited this character.

The Mad Hatter has always been in the parks, I believe. I'm surprised no March Hare or Cheshire Cat are around though, especially the latter.

Also remember that quite a lot of characters are unleashed into the parks when their respective movies are first released, yet are then not used very much thereafter. And I'm not talking about relative flops like The Rescuers Down Under and Atlantis; I believe even fairly successful films like The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercules had what seemed like their entire cast roaming the parks when those films first came out, yet after a while, this dropped somewhat.

I've seen the Mad Hatter, too. It was at Disney World last year and he was walking around with Alice.

It would be nice to see the Three Little Pigs again.

Yeah, the Mad Hatter is a pretty common character actually. He is always at the Grand Floridian for breakfast and is in Fantasyland in the mornings. He is hard to avoid at Disneyland because he and Alice are all over the place.

Scrooge McDuck is always out at the Magic Kingdom during the winter holidays and both he and Launchpad from Ducktales make regular appearances outside of Animal Kingdom if you happen to be there at the right time.

I agree that there should be a Cheshire Cat walkaround. If they can have Marie, why not him?

Another character that I can't understand them not having is Thumper. They used to have him back in the days of the rubber heads, but Thumper merchandise is very popular. They made a walkaround Marie after her merchandise started selling like crazy, so maybe in the near future, there will be a Thumper.

I think Giselle should be at the parks, in her pink outfit. I know she was there for a bit when Enchanted first came out, but I haven't really heard of her being there after.

I remember seeing a show at Disney World on year focused on the Disney Afternoon (it was in the land currently called Mickey's Toontown Fair or something to that effect, that has had so many name changes; at the time it was supposed to be Duckburg, U.S.A., but it may have also had another name simultaneously... Mickey's Star Land I think). The show involved Scrooge getting locked in his own vault if I remember correctly, and it had the Rescue Rangers (at least Chip, Dale, and Gadget) and Zummi and Gruffi Gummi, and Launchpad of course, and it might have had some other characters, though maybe not. THose are the only ones I remember. A cheerleader type cast member hosted it as well. It was goofy and for kids, but I have always been a HUGE Disney Afternoon fan, so I loved it anyway. We have it on tape, such as it is (heads were always in the way on our old show recordings). Scrooge is my favorite character, so though I was never pleased with the way they'd do his sideburns (I don't think he even had any, and I also hate it when they make them look like Ludwig's, as they also sometimes do in animation), it was awesome to see him at the parks! I was just disappointed there was no Disney Afternoon merchandise anywhere at all!

And, yeah, I have never seen the Hatter myself that I remember, but apparently he's quite common, as there are tons of videos of him on YouTube (one Disney Cast Member is obsessed with Hatter and Alice and posts tons of videos, which I love, because I have a thing for Disney park Alices, ha).

And I agree that I'd love to see/meet Giselle! I like the other characters mentioned, but I have issues about the costumed characters as it is, because I don't get a 5 or 6 foot tall Marie, and I wouldn't "get" a Thumper like that either. I think the Living Character Initiative they currently have going is making big improvements, like with their Remy character as opposed to having a 5 foot tall Remy walking around. I was very disappointed to find out Figment is now one of those big walkabout characters. They need to go back to the Dreamfinder with Figment puppet!

The face characters like the princesses are great though, even if I'm too shy to meet those. I guess one I would definitely request would be Princess Eilonwy! It's not that the Black Cauldron is a favorite movie of mine, but she IS a fave character of mine. They also should add Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman! And I don't know if they ever have Davy Crockett anymore, but they should! And the Swamp Fox too, in the appropriately themed areas, not to mention Pecos Bill and Slue Foot Sue. And I'd love to see them use their living character initiative to make an animatronic, interactive Willie the Giant sitting somewhere in Fantasyland! That'd be something to see, and he DOES appear on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse I think. And one that wouldn't be new but should be changed is Captain Hook (and Smee). Hook and Smee should be face characters, not wearing masks! That's so outdated!

I remember the Disney Afternoon show!! It's one of my earliest memories of Disney Theme parks. We have a portion of the show on home videos too. I remember Baloo was in it too. Or I might be making that up, lol.

Oh, but he does exist! http://www.clockworkmachina.com/?p=711
He's SUPER AWESOME! I wonder when he'll start making appearances at the theme parks.

And the Headless Horseman races down Main Street before Mickey's Boo to You Parade at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in Walt Disney World.

Actually Baloo was at Disneyland, I have a picture of him in one of the parades. I think I also have a picture of Rebecca floating around, maybe even Kit. Also, for Rescue Rangers Gadget was around as well.

*Edit* After looking through my pictures I also found Roger Rabbit, Hook, Scrooge, Monterey Jack and Dale in his Rescue Rangers outfit

Personally, I feel as though all of the characters should be at the parks not all at once but maybe change it up so that different characters are roaming around on different days etc. Or at least have a couple from each movie represented....probably too much work/money though :(

Two WALL-Es were made, one for Disney's California Adventure and the other for Disney's Hollywood Studios. However, mechanical problems with both have prevented them from appearing so far. The video was a test run done by Imagineering in DCA. As far as I know, WALL-E has made two public appearances so far, one at a science convention and the other on The View when they filmed for a week at The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, CA.

I really hope that they bring out WALL-E at the Disney Expo in September.

He was at some Basketball game too. I remember, back when they were promoting the film, I was flipping channels (had to be, I NEVER watch sports, unless it's cheerleading or something I find hot like that, ha) and I passed by ESPN or something, and some Basketball game cut quick to Wall-E somewhere on the sidelines or something.

Gisele and the Prince from Enchanted. I saw them at the parade at WDW but that was it. I'd like to see them to have pictures taken with them.
