Disney Cover Versions on Platinum Range

Post by 2099net »

So far all the Platinum releases have had new versions of songs included. Some of the outstanding Platinums have (semi) obvious choices, some don't. Anyone know what may be on the following?

Here's my guess for songs and potential performers.

Pinocchio "When You Wish Upon a Star" by Mariah Carey

Fantasia Nothing?

Bambi "Little April Showers" by Bjork

Cinderella "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" by Beyonce

Peter Pan "Never Smile At A Crocodile" (I know the lyrics aren't in the film!) by John Goodman (yes, I'm serious)

Lady and the Tramp "He's A Tramp" by Wynonna

101 Dalmations "Cruella De Ville" by Dr. John

The Jungle Book "I Wanna Be Like You" by Smash Mouth

The Little Mermaid "Part Of Your World" by Jessica Simpson

Aladdin "One Jump Ahead" (just to be different) by Robbie Williams

The Pinocchio one would be nice... ;)

And good picks, mostly. I'm not too fond of "Just Want to be like you" from smash mouth... It's good though...

Well, I picked some because they seem pretty obvious, being as they already exist.

However, I would be surprised if Smash Mouth's I Wanna Be Like You was used being as some of it is included on the Jungle Book 2 DVD as a "music Video" (they only include about half of it!)

I Wanna Be Like You seems to be the obvious choice. Perhaps Real Big Fish could do a version?

yeah.. I guess it depends on when the films come out. I mean, if Jungle Book was to come out soon, then I'd agree with you. But i'm guessing we're going to have to wait a while until Jungle Book get's rereleased, so maybe there will be another remake of another song, if not the same...

I know I've expressed my opinion on these covers before, but I'd rather not see another classic like "When You Wish Upon a Star" get remade in a bland cover. If they're going to do it, they should do it right (I'm not a big fan of Mariah Carrey)!

Oh, but the "He's a Tramp" by Wynonna could be good...

Forget it, I've just been informed by a friend the line up is likely to be:

Pinocchio "When You Wish Upon a Star" by Hilary Duff

Fantasia Hilary Duff will just keep repeating "la la" in time to some of the classical music

Bambi "Little April Showers" by Hilary Duff

Cinderella "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" by Hilary Duff

Peter Pan "Never Smile At A Crocodile" by Hilary Duff

Lady and the Tramp "He's A Tramp" by Hilary Duff

101 Dalmations "Cruella De Ville" by Hilary Duff

The Jungle Book "I Wanna Be Like You" by Hilary Duff

The Little Mermaid "Part Of Your World" by Hilary Duff

Aladdin "One Jump Ahead" by Hilary Duff

Can she even sing? I honestly don't know who she is. I feel left out, or am I just lucky?

Update Looking on the IMDB.com I see she was in Charlie "Being John Malkovitch"/"Adaptation" Kaufman's "Human Nature". I take everything back - she can't be a spoilt, bland teeny star if she appeared in quality art like that. :)

By the way, "Human Nature" is a great film. Rent or buy it today!

lol  Hilary Duff does seem to be everywhere. It could be worse, the Olsen Twins could move over to Disney's side of the tracks...

Actually, I think Smash Mouth should remake all the disney songs mentioned above and put them on one album... look what they did with Jungle Book's "I Wanna Be Like You" it was great, and also with the remake of "I'm a Believer" for Shrek (Dreamworks... sorry :| ). I don't think there is a song out there that they can't make better or revise it for the times rather.

FYI, in case you weren't being sarcastic, she plays Lizzie McGuire on the Disney channel tv series Lizzie McGuire and she's in The Lizzie McGuire Movie which recently left theaters.

Well, I know who she is. I've just never seen her. Never, ever. And I have a feeling I don't want to.

Plus in Sequel-Land (the UK) Lizzie McGuire is on early Saturday morning, when I tend to be doing the weekly shop.

Your missing nothing by not knowing who Hillary Duff is, I only know her for 2 reasons. 1.I caught five minutes of Lizzie before Thats So Raven came on one night and 2. Isn't she going out with Frankie whatever from Malcolm in the Middle?

This is my song line up...
Pinocchio Hi-diddle-de by Raven Symone (it would be funny people!)
Fantasia Vanessa Mae playing The Nutcracker Suite
Bambi Love Is A Song by Michael Bolton (this could happen)
Cinderella A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes by Whitney Houston
Peter Pan Following The Leader by Dave Bennson Phillips (you will only get this if you live in the UK)
Lady And The Tramp He's A Tramp by Avril Lavine
101 Dalmatians Cruella DeVille by Marilyn Manson ( )
The Jungle Book I Wanna Be Like You by Good Charlotte
The Little Mermaid Part Of Your World by Christina Aguliera
Aladdin A Whole New World by Usher and Kelly Rowland
Dust? Anyone? No?
Dust? Anyone? No?
Dust? Anyone? No?

Well thats actually low in fat so you can eat as much of that as you like.

Well, I guess, this post is for sheer fun, but in reality, All the songs will most likely be done by teeny bopper or "tween" groups. Just like in Beasty and the Beast.

Aladdin will most likely have the music video of the original RB singers who song "A Whole New World", as well as a new one with the pre teen group version.

Any Platinum movies, actually I guess TLK and A are the only ones, will keep their original "pop" versions as well as a new on.

Personlly, I like the Disney versions better than the"pop/RB or whatever else" versions. Aguliera makes me want to puke. Besides, she already had her spot light with Mulan. Whitney Houstan does seem to be a good choice for " ADIAWYHM" but she is probably too arogant to do it, unless she's challanged by Timira Grey from American Idol.

Anyway, instead of worrying about songs that already exist, I'm a little bit curious about songs that will be added...

Come to think of it, I think I'm am going to start a post about this. :)

I think Avril Lavigne would be perfect for "He's a Tramp"!!!!! I only like a few of her songs, but she has just the right attitude for this song (she's not too peppy)...

And I'm thinking we Aussies will get a different version again to the other Jungle Book 2 releases.
Playing in the charts for a while was a version of "I Wanna Be Like You" by local Nikki Webster, who some of you might have seen singing as the little girl at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
Forgotten her? We are all trying to.
She had a short lived career as a pre-teen "singer" after the Olympics, and I was surprised as anyone to see her doing a version of this song, complete with footage from the film with her inserted into the jungle setting with a bunch of other dancing kids.
I wonder if this happened in any other region?
At any rate, I suspect our JB2 (which comes out in September, specs TBA) will have this version.
Interesting to see what will be on the Platinum JB.
