The DSi is going to be released in the US on April 5th. It will retail for $169.99.

The one thing I do not like was actually one thing I was excited for. I refuse to use WEP on my home network, so I've been left out with online DS gaming. The DSi will use WPA, but only for new games. Old games will still have to connect with WEP.
To connect to Wi-Fi to use the new app store or to play online games, the DSi includes support for WPA security. The DS and DS Lite did not support any security above WEP, so older games reportedly still must connect via WEP to play online, despite the DSi's support for WPA.
Personally I'm not sure its worth the upgrade right now unless some must have games come out that make use for the new features.

I bought the new DSi a few days ago and I think it's pretty good so far. The screen is slighty bigger and brighter than on my old DS. One of my biggest complaints is the removal of the GBA slot (Then again I do not own that many GBA games). I am still trying to figure out how to get the wi-fi to work on my games.

I also bought a DSi.

I had to order a new flash cart... Nintendo disabled all the existing ones...

But so far I'm playing Pokémon Platinum on it. I like the bigger screens... as far as the removal of the GBA slot, well, hopefully they'll work on GBA emulation. The bigger RAM would allow for it, the problem is even the new DSi flash carts still run in DS classic mode, so it doesn't utilize the extra memory.

And another pet peeve is how you can't use pictures other than the ones you took with the DSi camera... I mean, technically you COULD trucha-sign a JPEG file, but really, that's low... even for hackers

I'm happy with a normal DS.

Is Pokemon Platinum any good? I have Pearl, but haven't played it in about a year. I don't watch the cartoon, really, either, but play the games.

I can tell you now, Virtual Console downloads of GBA games will be coming shortly - just think of the added revenue stream for Nintendo, for which they can charge per game!
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

I like it so far... though I just got the first badge. From what I understand, it adds to Diamond and Pearl what Emerald added to Ruby and Sapphire. (And I know they modified the GTS quite a bit so now you can watch battle videos, and other stuff like that)

Yeah, I heard about that. The biggest problem I have with official VC other than paying again for games I already own is their schedule - with them only releasing one a week or so, it may take a long, long time to get some titles I actually want. At this point I'm just waiting on someone to make a Homebrew Channel equivalent for the DSi (or a flash cart that actually runs in DSi mode, not DS compatibility mode like the AceKard and such) so they can run a fully-powered emulator to play the games before a real VC release.
