another questions about Disney VHS tapes
Since I posted last time about the last Disney VHS released, I'm thinking about collecting Disney VHS tapes. Are there any resources (like websites, books, etc.) on collecting Disney VHS tapes and / or Disney DVDs?

That's in 2006?! The same year Blu-Ray and HD-DVD launched?!jrboy wrote:I believe Cars was the last vhs to be released as a DMC exclusive
Now I believe it is definitely too soon for a new format. Vinyl records lasted decades before the advent of CDs not to mention they are currently seeing a revival. A new format every ten years is beyond ridiculous and can in no means be justified.
Ok rant over.

It went into 2005, cause The Incredibles was released March 2005 on both DVD and VHS, I think Chicken Little was in theatres Fall 2005, so it would have been Spring 2006 when they stopped. I remember hearing that stupid Love Bug reboot (that went nowhere) was the first not to be on tape, which would mean fall 2005 at the earliest.enigmawing wrote:So probably around 2004?

Well, Vinyl Records are seeing a comeback, but it won't be major. They're more collectibles(even the new ones), it seems, than something that people are frequently listening to. I think the old formats and new formats can coexist peacefully. Everyone here knows I'd personally move on to the next great thing in entertainment, but never rush in doing so.

First Disney theatrical animated feature on VHS
I have another question about Disney VHS tapes that I'm curious about, what was the first Disney theatrical animated feature to be released on VHS right after it was released in movie theaters (not the classics like Snow White, Bambi, Fantasia, Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, 101 Dalmations, etc.)?

Didn't "Dumbo" get a release back in 1986, when you could like only rent movies and not buy them yet or something? I thought I read somewhere that it was the first.
EDIT: wikipedia, take it with a shaker of salt, says "Robin Hood" on December 6, 1984 for about $80. Those were the days.

Yes, but dvd500 wanted to know what the first animated film was that was released to VHS shortly after its theatrical release, not in general. You are correct that Dumbo was the first in the early 80's, but The Little Mermaid was the first to be released on home video right after its first theatrical release.
