Well, you can't complain about a still from the film as being "off model".

 This isn't directed to Jack, or anyone in particular, but Geez! Is there no end to people's ability to bitch and moan? You get the best two disc release for years, easily beating most of the so-called Platinums released in, say, the last 3 years - and people are still moaning!

No wonder Disney feel they can get away with crapping discs out (I mean really, have you seen the shortness of the supplements on Bolt?) if people spend so much time minutely examining the cover art. I'm sure Bolt's cover art was exceptional - forget the fact the supplements were put together in an afternoon, that's not important.!
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Because gay=better Disney? Howard Ashman was, but I wouldn't relate his sexual orientation with the success of The Little Mermaid.

Maybe Chris could post on our gay thread?

I'm happy about the release too and I'm not going to bitch about the cover art or disc design with a 2 hour + making of doc.

...the "Screen CRAP" thing was joke. I still am not wild about the art, but it was a funny.

No inserts = major cost-cutting decision for Disney, same as the dull gray disc color for their standard DVDs. It makes their bottom line look better.

But I see the lack of promos (if you're referring to the trailers that start before the menu loads) as a good thing for the Lilo & Stitch DVD. It means I don't have to hit the fast-forward/next chapter or menu button to get to the main menu.

The constant barrage of promos on DVDs annoys me... a lot. You pay for a physical copy of the movie to skip the crowds and 10-15 minutes of previews beforehand, and even on DVD you have to skip 3-10 minutes of previews too.

Apparently there is. The RT forum is closing in a week because of it.

Regarding Lilo & Stitch, I'm sorry there's no disc art, mainly because I keep my discs in a binder and not in the case (which is why I don't give a rat's ass about the cover). So turning through the pages and trying to figure out which Disney film to watch would be rather sucky when I suddenly come across a bland grey disc. Of course, I won't let it stop me from enjoying the disc when I'm playing it. After all, watching a DVD and looking at it are two different things. :P

What's the RT forum? :?

And to be honest, from a number of interviews on various DVDs, I've always thought that Chris Sanders might be gay. I say "might" because it could be that he's just a bit flamboyant. He did draw some beach babes...the kind of which it looks like fun was had in doing so. :P

And since when did smoking make anyone gay? :?

RT = Doctor Who Restoration Team.

They have their own website where they discuss how they restored the "Doctor Who" episodes for DVDs and the extras for each release, and there's a forum there that's been running for years. But after the explosion from Galaxy-gate (among other things that influenced the decision to shut the forum down), they decided that it was time to close the forum.

Anyway, to explain Galaxy-gate...

"Galaxy 4" is one of the stories that is completely missing from the archives, and a half-hour recon of the 4-episode story was commissioned and put together, intended to be included on the DVD of "The Time Meddler", the story that preceded it in broadcast. However, after the success of the two animated episodes for "The Invasion", 2|e producer Dan Hall felt that the "Galaxy 4" recon was not good enough anymore for the DVD range, as the potential for animated episodes would have been better. So they decided not to include it on the DVD, something that was only revealed like, a week ago. The outburst from many forum members ("better a not-up-to-standards extra than nothing at all!", "why didn't you guys do a full recon?", "I was right, 2|e has no intention of animating the missing episdoes!", among other things) led to a lot of mudslinging and arguments. Plus, it didn't help that it came on the heels of negative discussions regarding extras that have turned up on DVDs as of late (the Lalla Ward frockumentary, quasi-related featurettes about blood and vampires, an interview with a cybernetics scientist, etc.). So the RT decided that they'd close the forum down in a week, for a variety of reasons. Though the bitchings/grumblings/etc. seems like the primary reason (IMO).

Now, back to Lilo & Stitch...

No disc art. Boo

Excellent supplements. Yay

It's so sad to see what people are talking about more...

It's a Dr. Who thing, but it looks like Escapay beat me to it.

I never gave much thought to his sexual orientation to be honest; regardless of whether he's gay he most certainly he likes drawing sexy ladies. So do I, but it doesn't mean I'm attracted to women, lol.

It's interesting that he says in his dA blog that he doesn't smoke:
alohalilo wrote:I don't smoke for several reasons. The biggest reason is that no one in my family smoked cigarettes. The second biggest reason is that I am a product of the Colorado public school system, and they did a great job of convincing me that cigarettes were bad. And lastly, now that I am an adult and can make my own decisions, I don't smoke because I know myself well enough to know I'd get hooked like everybody else. That would be bad enough, but I also know I'd take the whole thing too far. Within six months I'd be wearing smoking jackets, and using one of those long cigarette holders like Cruella uses. I'm like the character Toad from The Wind in the Willows - always seized by some mania which I take too far, that I then trade in for a different craze a year or so later.
Now I'm just confused. :?

Maybe he doesn't smoke regularly but has a cigarette or two occasionally? Just a thought...

He was smoking a cigar, which is different. You don't inhale a cigar and I do know a few guys who occasionally smoke a cigar, but never touch cigarettes. And the documentary shows him coughing and walking around in disgust at the amount of smoke, so I think it was meant as a joke.

As for his sexuality, not that it really matters anyways, but Chris Sanders has a wife. He is NOT gay, but I have to admit that he is very flamboyant and I can see why people would think that.

Interesting, I haven't been able to watch the documentary yet since I probably won't pick up the DVD until sometime next month.

You know, I thought he was married, but couldn't find any info on it.

Lilo & Stitch is definitly on par with the other Disney Classics. It's just a very unconventional tale as far as characters and setting go, but beneath all that it has the familiar Disney-touch. With a modern twist, to keep it fresh. All in all, I'd say it's the most original film Disney has done in the last 10 years. I'm just very sad that it spawned a record-number of bad, cheap, lazy sequels and tv-series.

What I especially like about the film is the music:

I wonder why this is even an issue that's being discussed... I mean, that's the *last* thing I think about when watching the bonus materials. And I didn't 'notice' anything about him. And frankly, I don't believe you can 'see' when somebody is gay. But then again, I find out about people being gay all the time, when everybody else already knew and they will say: "how did you NOT notice that?" I would never have guessed Andreas Deja was, until somebody who worked with him told me.

He was?

Here, you see, that's how terrible my 'gay-dar' functions. :D
xxhplinkxx wrote:So I just got my copy a little while ago. The cover is even uglier in person. It looks like someone just enlarged a screen cap and slapped it on there the night before the cover was due.

They could have at least given us disc art to make up for the hideous cover.
Excuse me, but I actually think it's one of the better Disney covers.

Well his partner has shown up more than once before, accepting his Oscar for Beauty and the Beast and showing up on DVD bonus features. The fact that he is labeled "partner" without having any business kind of relationship means gay to me.

Howard Ashman was gay... you really don't have to work to uncover it. It was never a big secret or anything.
