I don't understand the complaints about the disc art. Many Disney dvd's to date have had a silvery face with no picture or color. I look at its monotone style as classy, not cheap. It reminds me of the cover art of the upcoming Witch Mountain reissues.
Besides, even if the lack of color is a savings of money for Disney, isn't that a good thing to save money on at the detriment to no one? The disc art is not visible to a purchaser, and it serves no real purpose but to mimic the cover art. The disc, tucked inside its case and hidden from view 99.9% of the time, only needs to be practical, not artistic, that's what the cover art is for.

I went to Walmart yesterday and the movie they had for $14.97 was stupid Space Buddies. O&C was regular $19.96 price.
I noticed there was little publicity on Disney Channel for this movie. The "Really short report" has only done SPACE BUDDIES, but not the real disney film.
I'll be doing what I planned -- using my BB $5 Reward Certificate to buy it.

Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

if you have Disney Movie Rewards and buy this movie before the 24th is over and enter the DMR code, you get 200 points instead of the usual 100. Glad I bought the movie. I'll probably watch my copy this weekend.

I'm afraid it won't come out in Europe after all.
Pinocchio is already on the shelves, and no sign of Oliver. Of course I could get the old 'regular' edition and then miss out on any additional special features (how few they may be...). Or I could order the American dvd online, but then I wouldn't be able to watch the film with the Dutch dub I grew up on. Of course I prefer the original, and nobody can come close to (let alone, replace) Billy Joel as Dodger, but from time to time I would like to be able to watch Frits Lambrechts giving his voice to Dodger:
Oliver and Company: Why should I worry? [Dutch]

I hate it when Disney does this. We already have to miss the 2-disc version of Pocahontas and most of the Treasures.

I finally watched my DVD of O&C. I couldn't believe it: Joey Lawrence was the voice of Oliver?!?!? (well, the movie is 20 years old......) I recognized Natalie Gregory (after I saw it was her as the voice of Jenny, I knew I recognized that name. She was in an Alice in the Wonderland mini series that was on tv in the 1980s) I recognized Fagin right away.........
Wow, it brought back memories....... "My name is Francis, not Frank or Frankie..." I got a Francis the Bulldog finger puppet in a kids meal when the movie first came out. Its still around somewhere.....I think
I think one of my nephews might enjoy this movie, so I am taking it with me when I help babysit him Thursday this week.

"Dumbo" was set in contemporary times, as was "The Rescuers". I guess you could also make the argument that the package features are set in contemporary times... at least parts of them. "Bambi" could be, I guess, but we don't really know enough about the hunters to say.
"Ta ta ta taaaa! Look at me... I'm a snowman! I'm gonna go stand on someone's lawn if I don't get something to do around here pretty soon!"
