Well if you look at Star Wars, it's actually 9 movies now if you count the two Ewok movies and Clone Wars.Heil Donald Duck wrote:Some one forgot
Star Wars at 6
Indina Jones at 4
None-America but Britsh (originally):
James Bond at 22
and many more.
And Indiana Jones is 26 if you count the 22 Young Indiana Jones movies. This may go up to 27 or 28 if they do go ahead and make Indy V and Indy VI.
Another example is Terminator. It will be 6 movies once the new Christian "I don't want another effen minute" Bale trilogy will be completed.
I'd like to see Pirates go past 4 movies.
And all of them have a diverse cast over the films. Even Indiana Jones, where apart from the odd supporting character turning up, they all have different co-stars and different villains (Yes, I know Marian comes back in 4, but they still introduce a new sidekick).Heil Donald Duck wrote:Some one forgot

Star Wars and James Bond have had regular cast changes.
That's what's important in keeping a series fresh - despite what people think about film companies "cheapening out" and not paying actors to return in "failed" sequels (BTW, I love how the studios are always blamed, and the actors asking for such pay-hikes are never blamed) we'd all go batty if there was 22 James Bond films with the same James Bond, or indeed 6 PotC films with the same core-characters.
My personal view is that the Pirates films NEED to start 4 off with an almost clean break. Parts 2 and 3 did not go down well commercially, or with the audiences either, the plots have become to complicated, and any notion of "fun" the first possessed was virtually absent from the final film which even with a running time of 2.5 hours, still felt like it was frantically trying to cram every single plot point into its runtime.
So I'm all for Captain Jack Sparrow and no other returning characters.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

I, for one, was able to understand completely what went on in DMC and AWE upon first viewing, but I agree, they lost the notion of "fun".It was the smaller details in the first film that really confused me. How long did it take for the curse to take hold? When was Bootstrap thrown off the ship? Was it before or after the gold was taken? I guess before, but all it said was "shortly after the mutiny".

So the rumors are floating out there that "Pirates of the Caribbean: Part 4" is supposed to start lensing in 2010. Gore Verbinski's schedule is so packed with projects that he finally informed everyone involved that he officially would not be involved in this one. I can imagine after spending about five-plus years on the sea with pirates, he's had enough of them for a while. Sad, as I'd like to have seen him back with Johnny Depp. But apparently the search is on for a new director so that the production can film next year.
The other big question is who will be writing this one? The original writers Terry Rossio & Ted Elliott are pretty busy at the moment too. Could we see a new director and new writer for the continuing adventures of Jack Sparrow? I personally like the idea of continuing the adventures without Will and Elizabeth, but the one character I hope winds up haunting the dear captain is Barbossa. I want to see him chasing after that map that he stole from the mangy pirate all across the Caribbean.
And the last question I have is will this story be ready for theaters in 2011 or will it be so effects-laden that the actual release date will be in 2012? If they plan on coming out in 2011 there's going to be a very crowded Disney schedule with a possible "Lone Ranger" film, "Tron 2" and others. Then again, 2012 is going to have "John Carter of Mars" and a couple more as well, so it's not exactly going to be an open playing field if the release is a year later.
