Adult Cartoons
Wow, enigmawing! You read my mind. Adult animation has been in my mind for a while now, especially since "King of the Hill" started airing on Adult Swim.
My biggest issue with current adult animation is that its extremely childish. Take "Super Jail". Yes its a show on Adult Swim, but the idea of a violent show has been dreamed up by 4th graders since they started appreciating guns. As enjoyable as the show can be there's nothing really adult here, besides the violence and sex jokes.
My most desired dream is to be able to make an animated series that truly feels like a show only adults would get.
The best examples of this dream are "King of the Hill" and "Daria", both which ironically were spawned of off by one of the stupidest shows in existence; Beavis and Butthead.
Both shows are caricatures of real life, especially suburban life. The characters may be cartoonish and exaggerated but show a side of life we sometimes either embrace or ignore. They feel real despite being shown in a joke context. Most importantly both shows treat the story seriously while never losing its sense of humor but never becoming too preachy. In other words; an adult show.
As much as I love Adult Swim I blame the decline of quality adult shows on it. There's nothing wrong with their shows. They are funny, at times very inventive and have an audience. But it has lead to the generalization that adult animation lacks quality, visuals and coherence in story. That they are made to get jokes across that would offend people.
And really, "King of the Hill" and "Daria" might have been popular, but they are so underrated. I mean, I have the gut feeling that both would rank lower to something like "Family Guy". Ugh...

They have indeed had some strange censorship laws over there. I'm not sure what the current situation is but for a time they couldn't show specific parts of the anatomy, and live-action adult films were typically censored by pixellation or even blacking out or blurring certain areas.Goliath wrote:That's strange, 'cause I've seen hentai with explicit 'male organs', for sure...littlefuzzy wrote:As far as the tentacle thing goes, they have some strange censorship laws in Japan, so tentacle-ey things can be shown, while a male organ can't.
For anime it could be a little different, either don't draw certain parts in, substitute a fantasy element (like tentacles), or make sure the distributed prints were properly censored if the controversial parts were indeed drawn in. The same went for doujinshi and even fan art in general. For copies being distributed to other parts of the world, they may not need to be censored at all, hence why a lot of anime found online remains so explicit.

That's because it WAS suppose to be intended to be aimed for adults. That was originally John's demography he was aiming for. The problem was this: At that time, he couldn't find any available station that would aired an adult cartoon. Adult cartoons were rare. Then Nickelodeon appears which was fairly new channel. Nick's theme they were aiming for was gross out/slime stuff as you probably saw a lot during commercials and TV spots. R&S fitted the bill there so Nick accepted it. Problem began when Nick took a notice at what this show was really intended for after many cuts and censorship being made. After many late deadlines and censorship that had to be made, Nick had it with John and fired him.enigmawing wrote: The artist that worked with Bakshi on Mighty Mouse that later created Ren & Stimpy is John Kricfalusi (he also worked on the 80's version of the Jetsons as well as did some character design work for Galaxy High). I used to love specific episodes of Ren & Stimpy (especially Stimpy's Inventions, one of my favorite shorts of all time) and I'd say it was targeted towards adults way back when it was new to Nickelodeon. The show really suffered when he was fired, but when he returned to the characters how many years later for Spike TV it felt like they died a little.
Yea some times the do have it in there but rarely and usually this are like extremely for adults. For most part the male parts would be whited out or non existance.Goliath wrote:That's strange, 'cause I've seen hentai with explicit 'male organs', for sure...littlefuzzy wrote:As far as the tentacle thing goes, they have some strange censorship laws in Japan, so tentacle-ey things can be shown, while a male organ can't.
Many of the CG dating sim/ sex games that they have out there usually isn't censored.

Ha, when I saw the Tenacious D movie, I didn't know as much about them as I thought (didn't know it was a TV show first, for example). Great movie though, except I would have preferred the more predictable ending of having their challenge with the devil actually happen onstage during the battle of the bands. Anywho, you'll have to get back to me with all the things you're always wanting to say here but can't for holding back, ha.
As for tentacles, there may be a good case for them, but myself, I don't get much from it. Maybe because those encounters are usually unwilling, which is a turn off for me. If having to see a man's rear too often is the problem, I can understand that, but for me the preference is all females or even just one. I would add a couple points to that, but in this case I'll hold back, ha.
One of the things that I never liked about Tripping the Rift is that I am annoyed when a movie, TV show, or anything else is trying to tell me that a woman is sexy/attractive when I completely disagree, and that female character in Rift is a great example. I encounter this problem a lot though, since I do have rather specific tastes. Though my tastes are being the chosen type more and more nowadays, probably ever since the WB/CW Network, Girls Gone Wild videos, and Disney's wave of teen starlets showed up. Yes, the Disney starlets of today are often my dreamgirls of tomorrow, ha. Well, maybe not in general, but they usually have one or two who just turn out stunning to my eyes.
I remember watching Duckman from when it first came on. I do or did have the first issue of the comic book too. However, I never fell in love with it. I know part of it is that I didn't like the art style. I can be finicky about that. Never liked Rugrats, Real Monsters, or stuff like that. I did like Rocko for some reason though, ha. I don't think I felt Duckman was funny enough either, but I don't remember well. Who knows how I'd feel about it now, ha. If I didn't mention it before, I did love Ren and Stimpy, and I used to love Beavis and Butthead too. Have an action figure of Mr. Horse and plush toys of Ren, Stimpy, Beavis, and Butthead (though I'm trying to get rid of my once huge stuffed toy collection by replacing each subject with at least one collectible quality figure or statue or something else less kiddie, ha. Also trying to make my general toy collection smaller and more sophisitcated that way).
Ugh, I'm so tired of animation going cheap, especially with adult, comedy focused shows like a lot of stuff on Adult Swim, though some of the badly drawn stuff is still pretty funny (like Stroker and Hoop and Squidbillies). They had that one show, I forget the title but something about a mouse, that totally was a waste of air time. Stinks to hear that Spaceballs is cheapy looking animation too, in the vector/flash style. If that's what I think it is (still not that learned in regards to all the computer stuff), sometimes it's okay but yeah, they're doing it too much.
That Least I Could Do strip with Ariel was pretty awesome, ha. Better than the one I had found earlier when searching the comic myself. I know it's very "Family Guy" to make pop-culture references, but TV and movies is what we all grew up with nowadays and I find I do it a lot in my strip too, ha.
I really need to explore the WWOEC threads more, I guess. I usually stay in the threads with the different titles like "Disney", "Cartoon Network", etc... I will probably start posting there soon, but I want to get the PayPal thing settled first. They say, "Be Up and Running in 20 minutes!" but that's ridiculous because you have to wait 2 days to verify your bank account, ha. Plus, I am going out of town Sunday through Wednesday to visit my little sis in Austin and sign graphic novel prototypes we are selling at the Hastings in Round Rock. Anyway, when I am back after St. Patty's Day, I will hopefully really start to explore that stuff on WWOEC and maybe Jab's forum (though do fill me in on the drama over there if I should be concerned about something, if it's not too personal), and let me know if there are any other major ones to post on. I definitely want to see The Zone's thread! Oh, and I'll try not to forget to visit Levelord's site too. I actually just did my first adult piece I'll be posting recently, a bit of TinkerBell fan art, but so far have only posted the PG-13 version (over at D.A.). Thanks for the legal info, by the way. Good to know that all that stuff over at WWOEC isn't illegal, because then I wouldn't want to post on the same board. Still seems like a very slippery subject though (reading the recent events over at wikipedia, it doesn't sound like it's treated as legal). I don't really think anything drawn or written should be illegal, even in 3D, whether I agree with it or not, but oh well. And yeah, I've read a lot of people's frustrations with D.A. I haven't posted anything of a TOO risque nature before, but I guess I'll have to watch it now (but I won't be posting any nudity there or anything; Why bother). They've deleted some of your fully clothed pics too? Now that's just ridiculous. That will definitely tick me off if that happens to me. I can't imagine how they can do that to some work and not to others, because I've seen some stuff that was pretty naughty looking over there before.

In regards to censorship on Anime, I think there is a variety of stuff out there because the laws have changed a little over time. At least I know it used to be illegal to show certain body hair, and I don't think that's illegal anymore. Ha, personally, I think all the tons and tons of hentai without body hair probably initiated the zero body hair trend we have today, which I am rather happy about in the case of females (even if I have yet to enjoy it first hand, ha).
In regards to Family Guy vs. King of the Hill and Daria, I have to admit that I would rate Family Guy higher myself because I find it simply hilarious. It's childish, yes, but it's very funny. King of the Hill is funny, but I don't find it as funny (or visually appealing). I admit though, that I appreciate King of the Hill more now that it is on Adult Swim and hard to avoid, ha. It's a better show than I thought, but I still feel it is rather overrated in some ways (not in all ways) and disagree with Adult Swim's complaint against people saying DuckTales was better. I actually don't think it's fair to compare DuckTales to King of the Hill, but I would still choose DuckTales over it, ha. I think the big problem is how quick people are (especially Americans perhaps) to put things into a category. First, animation is just for kids, then the Adult Swim type stuff comes along and animation only fits into two categories in the public's mind: For kids or for immature adult comedy. I applaud King of the Hill for breaking that mold in its comedic style (I mean, to me it seems just like a live-action show rather than animated, and I guess it could easily have been done in live-action), though I don't think that should automatically deem it better. We should be able to have a variety of types of shows in animation just like with live-action, including the stupid comedies. What makes them "adult" is that they're not fit for children, ha.
Actually, Adult Swim has always made an effort to show that adult animation doesn't have to just be stupid comedy. They did this by running Anime since there weren't really many American alternatives (was the DC comis stuff ever on adult swim, I don't remember?). Unfortunately, it was hard to appreciate the Anime because the episodes are really not stand alone type stuff, so to me it just interrupted everything. I mean, it goes back to what I said before about Anime, that most is hard to get into if you haven't started at the beginning and not missed an episode. Anyway, so, yeah, King of the Hill is a good addition. Mission Hill was too, though I only watched this very casually, because I'm less into city-life type stuff (it's just never been an experience of mine and not that appealing) and, again, I didn't like the art style. Still, not a bad show.
So, point is, the labels set on animation are more the fault of the general public and their consistent lack of scope and imagination than it is the fault of Adult Swim. Adult Swim has actually done an awful lot for animation. I am not saying it is without blame. They have very low standards on the art quality, and that is a shame. They have taken on some shows that no one should, and frankly, I am very mad at Cartoon Network in general right now for how much live-action they are airing, but that's a separate issue all together (though I still love Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job, ha, and I'm not against airing live-action versions of cartoons a la Ben Ten or Scooby Doo or mix films like Roger Rabbit).

I just realized that I've yet to make any comments on King of the Hill or Family Guy myself, lol. First of all, there's something I just love about the theme song for King of the Hill, lol. I'm not a *huge* follower, but I do enjoy the show whenever I catch it. The characters may be stereotyped a bit but perhaps less so than many "real" sitcoms. I enjoy Family guy for what it is, but so much material is blatantly ripped off from movies and other shows but somehow it's passed of as parody or satire just because it's animated. But listen to me, I just sat through a couple hours of episodes tonight on Hulu, lol. I'm a sucker for shows that have a self-awareness, I think.
Freakazoid was kinda like that. I loved how it always broke the fourth wall and obviously wasn't made with kids in mind (how many kids would actually get all the pop culture references in it?) . . . I'm so relieved that it's found it's way to DVD.
To get back to Daria, I really wish the show had been on while I was still in high school, it may have helped me cope with feeling like the misfit that I was, lol. Before I actually saw any episodes for myself (our cable company was slow to pick up MTV) I had several people come up to me and actually ask if I was a fan, since they already knew I loved cartoons and that the main character was so much like me.
When I finally watched it she was definitely a character I could relate to, but in actually I felt I was more of a cross between her and Jane, except I was much more deeply affected by what other people thought of me, lol. I feel I've matured and have become much less self-conscious since then, but still have a bit of that indifferent, sarcastic girl within me.
I see you mention waiting for PayPal to clear and stuff so I wanted to point out that most of the WWOEC site is free; I haven't even been to the area that requires a paid membership, lol. If you need links to specific areas just let me know. And yeah, it's handy that they've divided the forum into different sections, as there are some areas I stay plenty clear of due to my own personal tastes, lol. The mods watch over the place pretty well and strictly disallow any illegal content. Also, if you choose to look into offering commissions there, you reserve the right to say what you are and are not willing to draw; people seem respectful of that.
As for JAB's, well . . . I'm not entirely sure how to explain what happened without going into a lot of detail, but sadly enough it was due to one person: she was one of my fellow moderators. This link contains my explanation to JAB over why I left. Something the link might not make clear is the presence the other girl carried at the site. She was an extremely popular member, often referred to as "the pillar of the community" as she left her mark all over the place and enamored many of the guys. She eventually had the majority so wrapped around her little finger that she got away with bullying, manipulating, cheating, and even stealing with no one even noticing. Other members and even the admins would completely blow off my concerns over the questionable way she began to handle things since they couldn't see her as anything but a kind, loving, wonderful person, and it was frustrating beyond belief and hurt like hell when no one bothered to listen to me. I had dedicated so much of my heart and soul into the site and community, and I think my leaving turned out to be a wake up call for many. It seems a shame that that's what it took in order to make people see her for the person she really is.
Anyway, I don't want to be bitter, lol. The place has calmed down again with Blue and I out of the picture, but as I've told JAB, I feel my place is elsewhere now. There are still cool people there and plenty yet for newbies and old members to enjoy, and they've since taken measures to prevent any abuse of power in the future. So if you check it out there the drama should be over with. I just . . . I dunno, worry about letting myself get close to someone like that again, she sure had me fooled into believing she was my friend when I was at a low point in my life and really needed one.
And deviantArt . . . well, there's one mod in particular over there that oversees the fanart section, and given his attitude about not only adult-oriented cartoons, but for fanart in general? He's extremely biased and uninformed on the subject, something he has made crystal clear through the ignorant posts he's made within his journal there. He has specifically dissed the genre and especially the artists, and has even resorted to unprofessional name-calling. The interpretation of the rules are constantly changing and the enforcement of them are inconsistent, so it makes it difficult to know what's accepted and what to expect. So yeah, to remove a fully clothed pic of KP that wasn't even showing cleavage? It's one of the many reasons I've slowed down with posting over there.
I didn't get around to mentioning it before but it must be amazingly awesome to see your work printed in a magazine like that! At the very least it sounds like you have your foot in the door.

I don't mind it if people say they like Family Guy. Humor, like opinion, varies from person to person.
But if you see shows like "King of the Hill" and "The Simpsons" (on their prime), and even the first seasons of "Family Guy" its annoying how they try to tell a story but its constantly interrupted by a joke that most of the time isn't funny.
My favorite FG episode is the one in which Brian is assigned to help an old woman who turns out to be a famed singer who went into seclusion. It didn't sacrifice story for the sake of humor and vice versa. It had heart, developed character and presented a character in a situation in which his emotions were tested.
We are very, very lucky if we see something like this ever again.

I like good stories with heart, I might like that episode. Though, FG is generally funny IMO.pap64 wrote:I don't mind it if people say they like Family Guy. Humor, like opinion, varies from person to person.

Wow...that letter was heartfelt.enigmawing wrote:
Some people just have no sense at all.enigmawing wrote:And deviantArt . . . well, there's one mod in particular over there that oversees the fanart section, and given his attitude about not only adult-oriented cartoons, but for fanart in general? He's extremely biased and uninformed on the subject, something he has made crystal clear through the ignorant posts he's made within his journal there. He has specifically dissed the genre and especially the artists, and has even resorted to unprofessional name-calling. The interpretation of the rules are constantly changing and the enforcement of them are inconsistent, so it makes it difficult to know what's accepted and what to expect. So yeah, to remove a fully clothed pic of KP that wasn't even showing cleavage? It's one of the many reasons I've slowed down with posting over there.

Since we've kind of spun off into TV fare instead of the other stuff, I'll say that I like Family Guy, The Simpsons, and South Park about equally. I was watching King of the Hill, but then it just started wearing on me. It got TOO redneck/typical sitcom, and didn't really have the feel of the other shows at all.
I did like what I've seen of Beavis & Butthead, and I really like Office Space (also from Mike Judge,) so I think it's just the KotH show I don't like.
Other good ones are: Dilbert, The Critic, Undergrads, and so on.

Gotta go out of town in the morning, so some quick replies here...
Never saw Undergrads really, though it may be something I caught a glimpse of once. Never saw too much of Clerks either, though it seemed pretty good (I like the film and am a big fan of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back). I don't recall if it was here that I mentioned that I liked the Simpsons a lot, but never watched it regularly except maybe a bit of the syndicated reruns for a period some years ago. When Futurama came along though, I got so into it I didn't even watch Simpsons occasionally anymore (though now I feel like I keep seeing the same episodes, though I know that's what reruns are, ha, but beyond that). Dilbert I think I saw once but never really "got". Or maybe it was the strip I never "got", though I know I didn't see much of either. I did like the Critic quite a bit and always thought his little sis was really cute, ha. I preferred the earlier episodes though, if I remember correctly, to when he got a girlfriend and all. Seems like it's been a looong time since I saw The Critic. Yeah, I want it and Futurama on DVD for sure, and Simpsons, Clerks, (any shows I like really, ha), but I don't have the cash to keep up with all that stuff yet (happily just completed my Wonder Woman set though, ha). I do own the first sets of Family Guy and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
One I completed collecting on DVD (very shortly before they released the complete series set, Argh!) was Batman the Animated Series (from the '90's). Loved that show, and I consider it pretty adult for American animation of the time, sorta like Gargoyles, though maybe Gargoyles was a little moreso? Haven't watched it in a while, so it's hard to say. Still gotta crack open S. 2 p. 1, which I only recently bought. Yeah, I too have many DVDs I have yet to watch and get more constantly. I shudder to think what the case would be if I had an income the likes of what someone my age should have, ha, but then I wouldn't have to store it all in one little bedroom, ha. Anyway, yeah, I'm a big fan of the DC stuff from WB, not sure if I had mentioned that in this thread yet.
Oh, speaking of Office Space, yeah, I remember the short cartoons that inspired it running on SNL. Or was it on Liquid Television? Anyway, good stuff. The movie is easily one of my faves. I almost feel like putting it on now as I pack, ha. They do show it on TV a lot though. Same with Napoleon Dynamite, which is another fave of mine and one I still have to buy, though all the TV airings have made me a little tired of it lately. Not too tired though. Uncle Rico is too hilarious.
In regards to Family Guy, I think it is more about telling jokes and making people laugh than it is about the little stories it comes up with. Sometimes maybe it is equal parts, but most of the time I think they are more about the comedy, and I think that's what most fans are watching for, and I think it's okay to be that kind of show. I don't really think it makes it any less great than a show that focuses on the stories and having heart and development. It depends on what you're in the mood for, and if it's comedy that a show or movie is shooting for, then it does its job if it makes you laugh a lot. In fact, when a show like that gets serious on the rare episode, that seems more like the flawed, inconsistent episode to me if it is not what I come to see when I tune in to that particular show. I also have to disagree with enigmawing (and I hate to do that, and rarely do) about Family Guy's takes on other films and pop culture references. I don't recall very often when they did one of their bits as a straight animated version of whatever they were spoofing, with maybe the rare exception, like the opening to the Electric Company (which actually is just hilarious to see reanimated on Family Guy for some reason), though that was followed with a pretty good punch line. No, the only time they kind of annoyed me with an episode that seemed to be just copying a movie (though it still could be called a parody or spoof really) was the Exorcist themed episode. I just didn't care for that one because it was like one movie reference gag taking over the whole show... Least original episode I can recall, though maybe it wasn't the "whole" show. I'm not sure if I ever paid full attention whenever that episode would come on. Anyway, just my thoughts on it. Yeah, Family Guy is loaded with pop-culture references, but that's part of the joke. Half the time it's like watching "I Love the '80's" and thinking, "I can't believe someone else remembers that!" But that's fun and funny, to a lot of folks at least.
Yes, I LOVE Freakazoid. Can't wait for the v. 2 DVD! And while it wasn't as adult as Freakazoid, you knew Animaniacs was making a lot of references and jokes for older folks too. Hilarious stuff! Still need those DVDs...
The thing about Daria... I liked Daria and disliked her/it at the same time. Fact is, I can't say I find the sarcastic, monotone, unimpressed, disillusioned attitude all that pleasant, ha, and it's sort of a teen girl stereotype too. I can best take Daria in small doses. But then, maybe that's why I never got too into it. Maybe if I committed to watching it more regularly I'd get hooked.
Ugh, that's not a pleasant thing to find out about Deviant Art. No wonder people have so many problems there. I wonder if I will begin to encounter them now, ha. I was going to wait till getting back later this week, but I went ahead and introduced myself and posted my first "adult" piece at WWOEC already, and the alternate version at Deviant Art. This one is no big deal, but it's just my first, ha. Terrible that D.A. has a fanart moderator that dislikes fanart! Reminds me of one of the beginning teachers I experienced in grad school who was probably the straw that broke the camel's back and made me decide continuing school was not for me (at least not there, but maybe I should go back to school for animation classes someday, and to get dates, ha; still can't seem to meet women outside of class situations, and I never had a class with one I liked that was actually single).
Yeah, it's neat to see my work in a monthly magazine, even if it's just a free, newsprint entertainment magazine, ha. Doesn't really feel yet like I have my foot in the door since I haven't gotten public response one though, ha. I'm even disappointed in how few readers/comments I get at D.A. You'd think you'd at least get comments, even mean ones, not that I care to get those, ha. And I'm still not really getting paid for the strip. Been told I'd start getting paid a few times, and I actually did get paid once, ha, but only because I had to go to the office one day and someone was actually there for once, ha. Though, I never expected to get paid for it by them, it was just a way to start out and get some readers; but when you get paid, that's what makes you feel legitimate, ha.
As for PayPal, yeah, I am still trying to settle things there. I have to go to the site and confirm they have the right bank account, but they make it so you have to be able to check your transactions for the month, and since I'm not signed up for online banking, I have to go to the bank and ask if they'll give me a statement on that... I thought getting the balance would be enough, but that didn't work because Paypal tests your account with two deposits, so knowing how much has been added isn't enough to confirm. You have to know the two separate amounts that were added to your account... Anywho, so since they're making it all complicated, I'll have to settle it when I get back. But what I was going to say about it was, I'm not really getting PayPal so I can pay for things, but rather so I can get paid for things, ha; specifically, commissions. I've decided I'm all about working for commissions right now. I'm trying to get some extra dough saved up so I can move to Austin with my sister for a while and them maybe get my own place up there somewhere until I can afford to move to California, IF I still want to then. Just gotta get outta here because of the lack of need for artists and the lack of single females that are my type. I'm in a mostly Mexican American/Immigrant community that I've always lived in, and that presents two problems for me: I'm half English/Irish and half Spanish heritage myself, though not really Mexican at all, and I'm nearly exclusively attracted to short, "white girls", with the occasional exception, ha (okay, that may be overly specific, but to put it another way, my preference is for the pinkish pale type with big eyes and cutesy noses, and I can stand VERY FEW accents in large doses), and the other problem is no one here needs artists and if they do, everyone's got a cousin or sibling who can draw "good enough" for their needs.
That's terrible what happened to you over at JAB's. As a lurker (though lately I've lurked more at WWOEC), I vaguely remember who you are talking about too, though I guess I stopped visiting the site regularly sometime before the trouble came out. Glad to hear that it is out in the open now though and you have a new forum to work on. I still need to check that one out when I get back.

A clip from Walt Disney Animation Studios' cancelled adult-oriented film "Wild Life" has surfaced! Why oh why did you kill the film, Roy Disney!? Under Lasseter there isn't a single chance WDAS will ever get to tackle anything risque ever again.

Maybe I'm not able hear the words being said so I don't see anything how this relates to adult cartoon topic, but that "Wild Life" look like crap.Julian Carter wrote:*BUMP*

The other CG one as well. Hell The Reef look like shitty version of Finding Nemo.
Only Aeon Flux and R&S were great there(even though that episode came after John K got fired).

I don't recall if I posted this before, but I've been meaning to. I just wanted to mention a couple of Cartoon Network's newer (though maybe they're not new NOW) shows that I have found really entertaining lately with their subtle adult humor worked in. The two shows I'm talking about are "The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack" and "Chowder". Moreso Flapjack though, which I have just found hilarious. Anyone seen 'em? No doubt some of you hate these shows, but anyone else appreciate their offbeat humor?

I've seen those shows and although Chowder's okay, I think Flapjack is horrible. I don't really watch either shows.slave2moonlight wrote: I don't recall if I posted this before, but I've been meaning to. I finally found a clip from Arrow! Here's a cap from it, click the link below to get to the clip. It's short and silent but definitely worth checking out.

http://totald.blogspot.com/2006/12/arrow-clip.html
Sure wish we could see the whole trailer though, this backs up what dim memory I have of it looking absolutely awesome (it's been a good 15 years since I met Bill Kroyer and was able to see it). Zombie slaying and an interracial relationship? Seems it was too far ahead of its time and it's such a shame WB backed out of the project. Mel Gibson was doing the main character's voice!
Also a couple of animation drawings from it . . .

Reminds me a little of the more grim stuff Don Bluth worked on.
