I think you will hear more horror stories about Netflix, because that's the only time anyone will say anything. I know that I've never had a problem with them- as a matter o fact, it's so much nicer than standing in line forever in line to check out, or better yet, be completely ignored by employees who are catching up on the latest gossip!
I dont have those problems at my store. Netflicks is also knownto cater to new customers more than the established ones, where the new releases always went to the newer people. I know the misdelivered dvds is not their fault its the post office, but seeing it does not want makeme want to get things through the mail. bythe way I work in mail services at the dmv where we get about 200-300 pieces of mail a week that is not ours
I don't rent my movies or games from ANY online stores. I live near two video stores (Family Video which is where I usually go and Hollywood Video which I used to go to)
While we don't have Netflix in Canada, we do have similar companies (Zip.ca, DVDstoyourdoor.com, etc.). I currently belong to Canflix.com and I think it offers the best service and value. I really think online renting is a great way to watch movies, especially since their distribution centre is really close to where I live. I get the movies fast.

I signed up for the two week trial version so I could see some of the Disney Animated Classics that I was unable to find at my local video stores. I got "Make Mine Music", and "Melody Time". Now, I think I'm going to sign up for the trial version of Blockbusters online rentals and get the other couple Disney movies I haven't scene. I actually really liked NetFlix, I just don't watch movies all that much. Who knows, maybe I'll sign up for one of their cheapest plans one day.
I've never done Netflix. I can't even remember the last time I rented a movie. A lot of my DVD purchases are blind buys or movies I've seen and liked. I've had good luck with doing that.
I don't rent many movies, but I have thought about signing up for either Netflix or Blockbuster.
Our local video stores are horrible (Fullscreen only). We do have a Blockbuster in another town that I visit sometimes. At least I can get Widescreen versions of films there.
My dad does the Blockbuster online plan. It works well for us because he orders what he wants and then we (kids) return them to the store and exchange them for movies we want. When we bring them to the store, they immediatley send my dad the next movie and he has it two days later, so you don't have to wait as long for shipping as you do with Netflix. Of the two, I would say Blockbuster's online plan is more convenient. When I move to Disney World in 5 days, I will more than likely get a Blockbuster online plan for myself if I find myself with enough time on my hands to watch movies.

And the next movie we have coming is "Father Goose". Mind you, I've not seen all the movies from Netflix (like Sweeney Todd; too gruesome), but I have seen most of them.
I've been using Netflix for almost 2 years now, and I'm still enjoying it! I've not had ANY problems with them. I've had a couple of instances where discs have been scratched by other people not taking care of them, and I usually get a replacement disc the next day after reporting it.
They have an awesome selection of films, I'm always amazed at what they have. Their site is easy to use, and I also love the "watch instantly" feature- it will indicate which films in your queue are available to watch instantly on their website online- they have an impressive library of online films that include MANY tv seasons, and there are several that they feature that aren't even available on dvd yet.
I have the 3-at-a-time plan which is $18 and some change a month (which includes unlimited access to their instant viewing library), and for me that's a great deal. When I think of the average price of a rental at our local store ($4+), it is a MUCH better deal to use Netflix since I average 15-20 movies a month (yes that would be $60+ at a rental store!)
Another user said that Netflix seems to cater to the newer clients. I've not seen any evidence that indicates that is so. The newer films don't go to the newer customers- they are sent on a first come, first serve basis. If there is a movie that you saw at the theater and you want, chances are they already have it in their list- look it up, and add it to your queue- when it becomes available on dvd, you'll get it a lot faster than those that waited to add it to their list much later.
I recommend people to at least try it- taking advantage of their free 2 week trial can never hurt. That is what reeled me in- and I'm a faithful customer now!
Has anyone used the Roku Netflix box? It looks really interesting. I know the feature is coming to the 360 later this year, but the Roku box is $99 vs. $350 for the 360.
We have had Netflix for almost two months now; we love it. I think it's great that they have TV series along with movies because there's not all that many movies we care about seeing; if we do care about seeing them we usually buy them. The first thing we rented was John Adams, which was so fabulous that we bought our own copy. Now we are running through British mystery series like Rosemary and Thyme, The Last Detective and Waking the Dead. I have a few Disney films in the queue, like Nikki, Wild Dog of the North, and also The Adams Chronicles, Danger Man/Secret Agent with Patrick McGoohan, and Jeeves and Wooster.
I'm curious coz a lot of BD Netflix users are complaining about how long the queues are for newly released BD movies, how long does it take to get a newly released movie on BD ?
