Okay, my bad. I can think of many films that need an upgrade, though. I just watched a Bugs' Life and was surprised at how pixelated the old DVD is. I mean didn't you get what he was saying....Disney Sent all the sites a Blu ray to review and didn't ask or clue them in to what they would be getting....I mean they didn't even just give an option.....So I would be pretty upset with the company if they said they were sending me a dvd but instead send a Blu ray...Disney didn't let the Site Admin reviewer Luke in this case any warning that it would be a Blu ray and they wouldn't be sending a DVD.....

...and? It's one thing for a general member here to not upgrade, but a site admin who is reviewing copies? It's an excuse and a poor one at that. That review was downright silly. I would encourage Luke to join the discussion over at AVS with folks who actually know what they are talking about. The blu-ray release came with the only DVD needed for a review of the film itself. All of the Disney BD releases have had vastly superior PQ and AQ to their DVD counterparts. Those who have chosen not to upgrade or have been unable to upgrade to the proper HT equipment seem...bitter.

Not everyone has the same approach to watching movies. Personally, I watch movies for the emotional journey they take me on, not to obsessively scrutinize the transfer looking for detail and flaws. And "High def" is not going to make the jokes funnier or the touching scenes more touching.
If the more technical approach is more what you are into, more power to you, but I'm happy with my current setup. All that matters is, my DVDs look and sound good TO ME on MY television.
The bottom line is, I CAN afford all that high-end, elite techie equipment, and CHOOSE not to buy it. Therefore, I am not "bitter" that I don't have it.
Speaking of "bitter", it sure seems like a lot of the techie crowd is bitter that there are those of us who are happy enough with DVD that we feel no compulsion to get Blu-Ray. Why does it bother you so much what Luke wrote? I've seen cables advertised in a Best Buy circular being touted as "necessary in order to get the full benefit of viewing Blu-Ray on a Hi-Def 1080 display". They cost 129 dollars, with a longer version listed as 149. I'm sure the hard-core techno-equipment crowd knows how to get a better deal on these type of cables, but my point stands that it is possible for people like me to enjoy my movies without having to have all the "latest and greatest" high tech equipment.
For those into that scene, good for them. But it's silly for any of them to turn their nose up at those of us who aren't.
