The Lion King CAV Laserdisc to DVD.

Post by bambifan56 »

I wasn't sure which board this was more appropriate for, so I tried it here.

I am not too much of a laserdisc user. I do have one film though that has many extra's I wish to obtain that aren't on the new DVD release. I have "The Lion King : Masterpiece Edition" CAV edition on Laserdisc. It is 4 double sided laserdiscs. I was wondering if there was a place online that would provide this or if anyone on the board would be interested? I am in no hurry, but this is something I would like to do soon. Leave me a message and we can hammer out the details.

What laserdisc player and recording hardware do you have?

I have a laserdisc rip, and I'm working on a fan restoration project, at one point I'm planning on having that whole LD set available for download or streaming (like YouTube, but not DMCA-compliant  )

But if your rip can top mine... it could be useful...

Yeah I'm not looking for a rip as much as I want the laserdisc material on DVD. I don't have a dvd recorder so I cannot do this really. I'm looking for a place online that does it, but most charge an outrageous amount of money.

I have never seen a forum so tolerant of its members openly flaunting property theft. It is amazing to see.

Because every sensible human being understands that keeping the OTV's away from the people is a much bigger crime than actions like these.
That's probably why......

You'll not find one judge in the whole of the Western World which thinks that Marky!
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Well 2099net, you know what happened lately?
My uncle came home from work and found his wife and kids lying beaten up on the floor, because a man broke into the house and stole the car keys and he was just about to drive off with their car.
My uncle picked up the burglar, put him in the trunk gently, drove to the police station and delivered him there, without a scratch.
"Here you have the man who broke into my house, beaten up my family and tried to steal my car". And you know what the judge said later on?
The burglar was free to go because there wasn't enough "proof" and my uncle got a fine for taking someone's freedom for a couple of minutes......

So please don't talk about judges to me......;)
What's an opinion of a judge worth if there's no respect for the victims?

Sometimes you are just forced to take matters into your own hands, and that's exactly what my uncle will do next time.

Same situation here, to stay on topic.

So what is your alternative? You're happy and content with Disney's release and just patiently awaiting the next messed-up official release?

You'll notice that I'm not openly providing links, especially of stuff that's easily obtained legally. I do not, however, have a problem sharing stuff like this, when it hasn't been released in a digital form (and knowing Disney, they probably have no intention of ever doing so).

Judges may not think that way, but I just really hate when companies are picky and choosy about what versions and features they're releasing on what format. In a perfect world, they would just have a digital archive of everything and people could obtain (whether or paying or not, depending on the owner) the features/extras/version/whatever they desire.

Considering I own the laserdisc and just want to have the content put on DVD due to my old laserdisc player crapping out, I don't know what the crime in that is. I don't plan to sell it or use it for public showing.

Well I think it was aimed at me... I was talking about sharing it with people.
Because not everyone has access to a laserdisc player, and they deserve to see the OTV of the movie too!

I'm just in it to get the features on DVD. I'm satisfied with my "altered" version of the film, though I wouldn't mind getting the OTV, too.
