Excuse me, but nowhere did I say in my comments that I'm placing a final judging on this film. I merely stated how I feel about these plot points so far. I'm not saying it's an awful film or I hate it, I'm just expressing my opinions on the information I have heard so far, and not the final film. I'm still hoping that it will be a good movie (despite the fact I despise Randy Newman and his music, save for the songs from James And The Giant Peach), and wish that it will turn out to be the smash hit and enjoyable film they hope it to be.

Yeah, the more I think about this film, the more I think i gotta stay away from this topic in order to not be bored of it months before it comes out.

I kinda like Randy Newman, but I do prefer Alan Menkin. Not all good Disney movies were done by him, though, and I also liked Newman's scores for Pixar.

I noticed a few things today on the DCP site announcing the new toy line. First of all right at the begining of the video when Anika Noni Rose is walking up to the podium to talk there' a song playing in the background and I'm pretty sure is a new song from the movie and that it's her voice singing it. I don't recognize it from anything else and it'd make sense if it were from the film. For being small soundbite it didn't sound half bad.

The lady in the video opposite of Anika Noni Rose presents her the doll in the green dress with the background as a one of a kind doll, but as she's doing this she refers the green dress as her "Her Iconic" dress. This implys to me that we'll see her in the green dress more than anything. Also on a lot of the products seen she's in the green. This makes me happy because it just makes her seem a lot more original.

here's a link to the DCP site so you all can watch the video too!

Great, I really like Terrance Howard, he'll make a good addition to the film. You can bet that Oprah will have him and Anika on her show come December for a big Princess and the Frog special - I can't wait!

Jim Hill said it best: If you appreciate politics and sausage you don't see how they are made.

He said this when he was talking about Bolt's troubled production and how it affected the film's reception long before it even opened, and I think "Princess and the Frog" might suffer from the same problem.

Let's look back at the 80s and 90s, when many of us were still little kids. The internet was unheard of, so if we learned about a Disney film coming to theaters it was because we saw the trailers on Disney videos or on TV. Since we didn't know what was going on behind the scenes we had down to Earth expectations. In other words; all we expected was a great Disney film, and around 95% of the time that was met.

Nowadays, thanks to the internet news about any film happen 24/7 and thus we know more than we should, allowing us to form an opinion of the film without it premiering.

Not to mention its raises expectations so high that even if the film is fantastic there's no way it could meet them.

At least, that's what I am sensing in this thread. We now know too much about the film, possibly ruining any enjoyment we could have had if we were oblivious to it (or at the very least, we didn't spend our time hunting down the information).

Tiana's not really a princess. She's actually a waitress in the beginning of the film....or a cook/chef? How can she be a waitress and be hired to do the catering at a Ball(aside from waiting)?

So she's NOT going to be the first black princess and just a black girl?! Damn it! :(

Don't forget about Prince Naveen! It wouldn't be so blatantly in the title if she wasn't going to end up a princess by the end of the movie.

Criminy! It's called "The Princess and the Frog", I think it's a pretty safe bet that she is the Princess in that equation, even if they both end up as frogs at some point. Sheesh.

Dammit! I never said she wasn't going to be a princess by the end of the film. I was talking about the beginning.

...Did anyone think she was going to be a princess at the start? I never did.

I'm sorry. It's just that judging by the notion of Tiana being a waitress.... well.......

Wait a second! Isn't the profession of chambermaid similar to waitress? :x

Well... not really. No more than a flight attendant is to a chambermaid. A chambermaid has many more duties.

But what is wrong with being a chambermaid? Cinderella and Snow Swite were practically chambermaids...

Well, Snow White and Cinderella weren't black. Otherwise, Disney would get a LOT of complaints.

Me too! I love Oprah's movie specials :).

You know, maybe James isn't Tiana's father, maybe he's another suitor (sort of like Kocoum in "Pocahontas"). Terrence Howard seems too young to be voicing her father.
