Yeah, no kidding. I'm scared to death of "The Princess and the Frog". That film needs to be to our era what Roger Rabbit was to the late80's, and I'm terrified it won't be.

You're not the only one who's concerned about that one. :(

Posting the entire article takes away potential ad revenue from the site that sourced it. I agree that posting should be edited to be shorter. It's a no brainer.

I'm both happy and mad. I mean i'm happy because their starting to return to traditional animation. I'm kind of mad that their just doing it because they want the money and it's cheaper. I mean I actually want them to want to do traditional animation. You know what I mean.

I would be surprised if the trailer didn't include a montage of past movies.
Really, they have to go back to traditional for good, because now CG isn't new anymore, and traditional isn't "old" anymore, like it was 5 years ago.

I don't think Agrabah would have made sense. This is like the two flying ships. A great match!

Aladdin, Peter Pan and Treasure Planet are three of my favorites.

I tried to do the magic carpet ride, but the only suitable image I could find doesn't look official, and the colors don't mesh well.

If I really wanted too, I could put Olympus in, and redo the Aladdin one, but I couldn't find a good screenshot from the Aladdin DVD to use.

Back on topic, I wonder what Disney's next 100% traditional animated film will be. We probably won't know till Rap. comes out. Though I'm not sure exactly what KotE will be like. If it comes out in 2013, Four years is a long time between traditionally animated films.

Don't tinker with the signature, it looks absolutely perfect the way it is :)

And I thought KotE is scheduled for 2012 :?

KotE is 2012.

No word on another traditional animation film at this time.

I was talking about the film after KotE, which would probably be released the next year, 2013. I thought KotE has live action in it as well as traditional animation.

And I wouldn't change the banner, that was just for fun.

As far as I've gathered (from one of the two KotE production crews) it's straight CGI.

As for the next traditionally animated film, I've been wondering this myself and did some research.

Read about it here.

You CAN'T REPEAT the past.

I hope the folks at Disney are aware of that at the very least.

There's NO guarantee that TPatF will be a super blockbuster hit (like TLM was back in 1989) but it seems by the sound of things that is what Disney is expecting...to turn back the clock back to the Rennaisance of the 1990s. I know the intentions are good but that's not a good mindset to have if this movie only makes say $150 million when blockbuster films now have to break $200 million.

The only thing that Disney can hope for is a new era of films that will become memorable classics many decades from now...regardless of how much money they make in their first run. I expect TPatF will make a decent amount of money to allow 2D films to come back but major super money maker hits are hard to come by now and it will have to take one big one to ensure a new rennaissance.

Try telling that to your History textbook. It seems that in some general ways, the past gets repeated all the time.

Keep a little faith. There were THREE eras of classic Disney and they ALL started with Fairytales. Not Roger Rabbit, or Oliver and Company, Fairytales.

This is subjective, as films are not made the way they were 10 years ago. Studios have become much more money-minded, and produce either poor films, or ones with ready-made fanbases, poor sequels, or poor marketing for films that surely deserved better. Surely that's been done for all of cinema, but it seems taken to an extreme, nowadays, with strict adaptations being the norm.

There's a reason why people still place PIXAR on top, and that's because they actually care about the movies, and have full control over the production of their films. Disney just does the marketing and distribution. That's a freedom not all filmmakers are blessed to have.
