I have wanted one of those for a while now. I would love that. I remember when I was younger, I was so excited to watch the trailers on my new Disney VHS tapes. At least for the newer films (pretty much Aladdin onward), I always loved how they would show the unfinished animation in the trailers- I *loved* seeing that!

I think that, at the very minimum, there should be a DVD set with DAC trailers on it. I would definitely buy it!

Well, I've considered taking the DACs' original theatrical trailers and compiling a DVD of each one's theatrical trailer (if possible). Maybe if I did go through with it, I would sell it or something. What does everyone think?

Trailers just have that "aw" factor about them that's hard to explain (at least the more recent ones do).

I'd pay for a fan-made disc of DAC trailers. Why Disney can't include them on their dvds anymore is bizarre. I mean they're not much more than the games. Disney could throw just one trailer on them, it's not that hard.

DisneyFreak, you should do it :D

I would totally want one, but some of the trailers would be hard to come by. For example I don't know where to find the original theatrical trailers for the following DACs:

Make Mine Music
Fun and Fancy Free
Melody Time
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
The Sword in the Stone
The Jungle Book
The Aristocats
Robin Hood
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
The Fox and the Hound

Whatever trailers available of those films, as far as I know, are either re-release trailers or simply 30-60 second TV spots.

I suppose if you're hard core you could try and track down the trailers in 16mm and have them converted. It gets expensive, though. I've got the 35mm trailers for "Amy", "Baby...Secret of the Lost Legend", and "Never Cry Wolf" and converting them is going to be about $100. I've also got about 6 or 8 television spots in 16mm for films like "The Gnome Mobile", "The Apple Dumpling Gang", "The Unidentified Flying Oddball", etc. and converting those would be about $45 or $50. ::rolls eyes:: It would just be a whole lot cheaper if Disney would just put out the trailers on their DVDs.........

I can also make DVDs.

I could try one if someone gave me a list of which trailers they wanted and where to find them (region 1 DVD wise)

How much would you be willing to pay?

I started ripping some of the trailers off of the DVDs - who knows when I will be done!

As for the hard-to-find trailers, I will probably just use either re-release trailers or something, I don't have the money to track down the originals :)

And for the VHS openings, most of them can be found on YouTube. Each one is between 5 and 7 minutes long, and includes FBI warnings, VHS openings, and trailers that accompanied it. Just search "[insert name of DAC here] vhs" and you will more than likely find it, some user posted most of them up.

Uh, I just posted them. I'm just looking to find them all in one place in one video. Actually, as many trailers as can be found wouldn't be a bad idea.

I think it all just depends on how many trailers... you're really serious about this aren't you?

Maybe  . Haha, well I decided that it would take WAY too long to track down the original theatrical trailers for each one, so I'm going to use the trailers I can find in HQ (as in, ones I can rip off of the DVDs or if I can figure out how to rip things off of YouTube in HQ). If it becomes too daunting of a task, I will probably just make it a "Best Of" theatrical trailers.

I have a lot of the VHS tapes and I can get most of the other ones from the library. I can easily turn them into DVD format.

But yuck, paying for fanmade DVDs. I'm 100% against commercial piracy, but if people are willing to pay you for them, that's their loss.
I can help provide the files, though.

I'm not trying to jump on anyone's back- I'm genuinely just curious. Is it legal to sell a "homemade" DVD with Disney trailers on it?

If Disney were to release a DVD with trailers on it, I would personally want every trailer- all the different versions of the original release trailers (and the home video trailers/commercials, too), as well as the rerelease trailers.

Well, I think it would be legal for someone to make a DVD as long as they got all the source material legally.

But it probably wouldn't be legal for them to distribute it. If somebody owns all the trailers though then it would be legal for them to get it from that person.

Generally I don't think it's a big deal for trailers, as it's free advertising for Disney. (Plus, I'm always in favor of fan-releases of stuff the studios didn't do officially)

I love the classic Disney trailers on VHS, I used to watched since I was in my teens and it was right before the movie. DVD's do the same thing except if you are on a "Fastplay" mode.

I have a lot of Disney VHS' in my collection, many of them had popped up on RetroJunk or something which is pretty cool. Gotta love the bumpers like "Feature Presentation", "Coming to Theaters", "Coming Soon to Own on Videocassette", "Stay Tuned After the Feature" and others, just like the drive-in movie with those old "Intermission" films.

I missed those days.

I found another Disney trailer online. This is for the film "Gus":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkrZxue_ ... annel_page

Despite the YouTube title, I'm pretty sure this actually a television spot for this film....not a theatrical trailer. Worth a look, though, for any fans of Disney from the 1960s/1970s
