New Disney double feature DVDs...
I don't remember ever hearing about these before, but I just got back from Wal-Mart and saw (for 14.99 or so, I believe) the original That Darn Cat paired with the remake, and also Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen paired with the Lizzie McGuire movie. I don't remember even reading about this on UD's main page, though I may have missed it. Anyone know if these lose anything from the original releases? Was the classic That Darn Cat DVD barebones and fullscreen in its solo release, because I think it is on the two-disc? I already have Lizzie McGuire, so when I get Confessions at some point, I'll probably try to get it on its own, but the That Darn Cat double feature would be great for me if there is no quality loss from the previous releases.

I don't remember reading anything about them here either. But I think that they are releasing quite a few of these, because I also saw on Amazon that a double feature of "Huck Finn" and "Tom & Huck" was released as well. If I'm not mistaken, these are the original discs that were originally released individually, right? By the way, does anyone have a complete list of all the double-feature DVDs that hit shelves yesterday?

Oh, yeah, I saw that one there too! I already have Huck Finn (it's one of my all-time favorite and most-watched movies, though it's been a while since I have watched it now), but I badly need to get Tom and Huck!DisneyFreak5282 wrote:I don't remember reading anything about them here either. At one store (I think Best Buy)...I saw a double DVD of Homeward Bound with Homeward Bound 2. Problem was...Homeward Bound was in fullscreen while Homeward Bound 2 was in widescreen. Seems to be a common practice for these double dvds to rip you off by having one film in fullscreen and another in wide. And the one in widescreen only is usually the second/mediocre film!
(saw the same thing on a double DVD of the Babe films even though it's not a Disney film)

I have that Homeward Bound one. Yeah, the aspect ratio situation sucks, but it's no different than their separate releases, so might as well get the double feature.toonaspie wrote:At one store (I think Best Buy)...I saw a double DVD of Homeward Bound with Homeward Bound 2. Yes, it was full screen. I just got rid of mine because I got the widescreen Region 2 version.slave2moonlight wrote:Was the classic That Darn Cat DVD barebones and fullscreen in its solo release, because I think it is on the two-disc?

Awww.....
I thought this thread was going to be about Disney starting a new DVD release line where they package films together as double features the way they were shown in theatres. Like "Treasure Island" and "Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow" in 1975.
Shucks!
btw, Linda, if you'd be up for trading for a copy of that widescreen "That Darn Cat" let me know. I've got gobs of Disney rarities. I've been meaning to track down a copy of that one
