Did Kingdom Hearts make anyone like Disney more?

Post by CampbellzSoup »

I'm not going to lie when before I played Kingdom Hearts I was pretty much raised with Disney there, but never really put that much thought into it. After playing Kingdom Hearts in 2002, and the follow up game I had a much better appreciation for Disney. It got me to go back and revisit Disney films, and relive some great memories.

Anyone else become reintroduced to Disney via Kingdom Hearts? Or better yet have a better appreciation after playing the game?

I think I had a similar experience with KH. TLM's always been my favorite film, but I basically gave no consideration for Disney's other films by that point (when was the game released--2002?). After KH, I re-visited other Disney movies and started to realize how much I enjoyed them all. It's also around the time I started collecting the films on DVD (TLK PE being the first I bought).

Anyway, I've always loved the original KH so much (and still do). The sequels, on the other hand, are really only enjoyable if you like the original characters--Sora, Riku, etc.--which I do, because I think the Disney worlds take a downturn in KH2. They still had their moments, but were kind of pointless to the plot. Maybe they'll get better representation in future games though.

Hmmm... I dunno if Kingdom Hearts made me like Disney more, but it came out around the time of my own personal "Disney Re-visiting"... I should say that Disney is the reason I like Kingdom Hearts so much [/has never played a Final Fantasy game]
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

KH made me wonder why Disney even bother to join Square Enix (other than money). You can take the disney stuff out of Kingdom Hearts and still have KH. It made it pointless. I hate KH.

In my case, I got Kingdom Hearts because I remebered how much I use to like Disney movies as a small kid. For me it was more that I wanted to play it because of the Disney part. Turns out I loved the story itself and the non-Disney characters too. So I don't think it made me like Disney more, because I had already kind of liked Disney. This was in late 2002 and during that time I wasn't as much of a Disney fan as I am now, but I did remember how much I use to love watching the movies featured in the game. At that time it was more like "Oh yeah, this game looks cool, because I use to like these movies as a kid..." So I really can't say that Kingdom Hearts made me like Disney more because it was Aladdin and Alice in Wonderland that got me back into really appreciating these films and realize how amazing they actually are (this was in November of 05' so almost exactly 3 years after Kingdom Hearts was released). Now when Kingdom Hearts II was coming out, at that time I was already a major Disney fan, so I couldn't wait to play it and re-visit the Disney worlds.

Kingdom Hearts did however introduce me to the Final Fantasy series and those games are awesome.

Actually, KH made me like Square more, as my disney-revisiting was already underway with the Platinum Line.

And the original characters and worlds are technically owned by Disney.
