I liked it. Just not enough to buy DVDs of them. But I was definitely surprised how bad the sales were for the first season! You would think there were enough MTM fans to release more DVDs.

What convinced Fox into releasing more?

i dont relly know but tvshowsondvd.com said this

" You've been waiting for this word, and the word - finally - is "go"! Reliable retail sources have told us that we can expect Mary Tyler Moore - The Complete 2nd Season to make it to DVD at last this coming Summer. Fox will release the entire second season of the show in a single box set, not in split-seasons like they've done with the later seasons of Lost in Space.

We haven't heard yet if the set will contain any extras, even though it's been rumored that extras were recorded a long time ago. Still, with or without extras, fans - who have become very pessimistic over the future of the series - should be rather excited with this news. Love is all around once more...spread the word!"

right now its very cheap i have seen it at bust buy for like $18 can and if your a mild fan you can always get the best of S1 starter set
also even if it had bad sales if you had almost 90% of S2 finished wouldent you Release it too?

The only episode I liked of this show was Chuckles Bites The Dust! That epsiodes was hilarious!! I never really gave the other episodes a chance. I bet if I watch some, I'll probly like it. But not enough to buy on DVD.
We need season sets of all DCOSs and all DCOMs on DVD! And Better Cover Art!

My favorite episode is where Mary had trouble sleeping and got hooked on sleeping pills. Later in that episode, she was taking a bath and, I think, her co-workers tried to get in touch with her and wasn't answering the phone because she was in the bath. They come over to make sure she was ok, and they accidently walk in the bathroom with her in the bathtub. Her reaction was SOOOO funny!

This thread is soooo old but I thought it better to use an old one than a new one that isn't likely to get too many replies, so anyway...

Mary Tyler Moore: The Complete Series is coming to DVD on May 5, 2009!!!!!

Exciting news, although now I have to sell my first four season sets, oh well!!!!

I have mixed feelings over this. On one hand, it's great that the complete series is finally making its way to DVD. On the other hand, I feel like Fox is punishing those of us who own the first four seasons since 5-7 are only available in this set. I'll wait and see if the last three seasons are announced for individual sale by the end of the year. If not, then I'll probably sell off my current discs and get the set. I'm hoping Fox at least can make it more worth our while with some new features. The ones on the first two seasons are some of the best I've ever seen for a TV series.

I only ended up getting Season One so this may be something I'd like to pick up. I'm just sad that they have chosen to alienate SO many who HAVE stuck behind the DVD sets buying most or every one of the sets that have come out and thus are screwed having to sell, give away, or just plain double dip!

Woohoo!

I only have the first two seasons, so I'll be glad for this release.

I wonder if they'll redo the discs to have play-all options for the discs (I think Season 1 doesn't have play all). Also would love if disc 3 in Season 2 wasn't a flipper anymore.

The articles says it'll be more than 20 discs, so at best it means we'll get 23 discs (21 discs for the 7 seasons, and the 2 bonus discs from seasons 1 and 2). Maybe they'll add one more bonus disc for an even 24! :D

I think by doing this they are just hurting sales rather than increasing them. While some people will go for this if they want the last few seasons, I feel like not enough people would spend all that money when they own the majority of the seasons. I was going to start buying the DVDs - because this show seems like one I would really like - I don't think I will now, knowing that I won't be able to complete my collection. Sure, I could buy 2 or 3 of the seasons and then if I like them, trade them in to get the full collection, but I'd still be losing money.

I think this is the first time I've read someone complain about NOT having to double dip. I guess there is a first for everything.

I for one applaud Fox for even giving us the option to buy a complete series set. What other studio has done the same for fans of a show? They have little to no incentive to put this set out as the show has proven time and time again to not make money, yet they are. I will take MTM in whatever form I can get it. Thanks Fox!!!
