I have noticed there are some who complains about the digital edited movies, thinking the colors are too cold and sharp.
But isn't there 8mm copies of most of the classics out there, which were released long before the new updates? If so, shouldn't these be closer to the original films, even if they have faded a bit?

8mm copies
The fact is that most of the 8mm prints of extracts of the classics made in the '70 and '80s are on Eastmancolor film that DOES NOT assure fidelity to original Technicolor in absolute! I remember seeing in Italy IB 35mm prints of Sleeping Beauty and they were very similar to the transfer of the Blu Ray, for example. The master used in the 90's to make the original 8mm Derann copies derive all from Eastmancolor low fade internegatives and are not quite in Technicolor, even if they are very good prints. Now I'm waiting for Snow White blu ray because I have an italian 8mm copy printed (although in Eastmancolor) from an original IB Tech and I'll make a direct comparison. Anyway the platinum dvd (even if some scenes are a little too clear) is VERY SIMILAR to the original Technicolor IB print I saw in Italy in 1973...

For Sleeping Beauty, maybe...
Though people complain about Cinderella a lot and Peter Pan.
I think Cinderella looks bizarre, but personally don't mind Peter Pan's. It's all matter of preference... and it's most likely always subject to opinion as the film fades over time and therefore nobody really has any idea "what it looked like in theaters"

Howard Ashman:
He gave a mermaid her voice, a beast his soul, and Arabs something to complain about
Arabian Nights (Unedited)
Savages (Uncensored)
If it ain't OTV, it ain't worth anything!

Cinderella looked ridiculous on PE DVD! Infact I couldn't watch all of it. I was shocked that disney would even put it out in that condition. Even my 10 year old cousin noticed, who I bought it for.
