Walt Disney Treasures
Actually, The Swamp Fox is set around the American Revolution.Mason_Ireton wrote:While watchin Swamp Fox, it reminded me a lil bit of Zorro/Robin ventures but set in the civil War After watchin a preview for the "upcomin" episode, "Day Of Reckoning", I was hooked and ready for more action and plot twists. The series is engaging and I'm prayin that we get Elfego Baca/Swamp Fox Vol 2. along with Zorro in the '09 wave.

Yes, I'd REALLY like to have the balance of SF's and EB's episodes.
I had only a taste of the The Swamp Fox show when I was younger, and had never heard of El Fego Baca until its Treasure announcement. But, I ended up enjoying them -- especially EB!
These are some ones I would like to see as well. Especially the educational shorts, more rarities, the Ludwig Von Drake cartoons, Disneyland Volume 3, etc.merlinjones wrote:I'd like to see:
"Song of the South" (plus "The Joel Chandler Harris Story" from TV)
"Ludwig VonDrake" (18 "Wonderful World of Color" hours unreleased)
"Ranger Woodlore/Humphrey Bear" (all the shorts plus 4 unreleased "Wonderful World of Color" hours)
"Chip an' Dale" (all the shorts plus unreleased "Walt Disney Presents" hour)
"Jiminy Cricket" (all the educational shorts, plus 4 unreleased TV hours hosted by Jiminy)
"Disneyland Volume 3" (there are more TV hours, including "From the Pirates of the Caribbean to the World of Tomorrow" and "Disneyland Showtime")
"Rarities Vol. 2" (the rest of the shorts and featurettes)
"A Walt Disney Christmas"
"A Walt Disney Halloween"
"Donald Duck Family" (many unreleased TV hours featuring Donald, Ludwig, Scrooge, Moby)
I would also like to see more "Wonderful World of Disney" episodes and many more Mickey Mouse Club episodes.
Bring on more vintage material!

>>The titles I crave keep changing! At the moment Im really craving another helping of Spin and Marty and I REALLY am in the mood for another Disneyland Disc. For the animated Volume I still want some Von Drake!! HE cracks me up...I like em.<<
I'd go for any of those - - after all, Annette, Darlene and Moochie are in the Spin & Marty sequels - - The fabulous "Disneyland Showtime" and "From the Pirates of the Caribbean to the World of Tomorrow" are musts - - and I want all the VonDrake I can get.
I'd still go for Zorro before Spin & Marty 2, though.
(And I definitely want Ranger Woodlore/Humphrey, Jiminy Cricket, Chip & Dale and Magic Mirror sets too!)

If they did another Your Host,Walt Disney, I'd include the following
Stories Of The Silly Symphony
Peter Pan's X-Mas (A Walt Disney X-Mas)
X-Mas In Wonderland (One Hour In Wonderland
Story Of Dogs (Full Episode)
Calvade Of Songs (Full episode)
I know the other 3 were released on their respective dvds (S.O.D/C.O.S for Lady/Tramp and O.H.I.W for Alice In Wonderland) But I know that's where these Disney Specials belong, W.T.D

PEOPLE AND PLACES!
Seriously, and I don't mean to step on any toes, but the People and Places films were recognized by the AMPAS. The modern studio can be proud of these films, and they deserve to be preserved and presented. I know some of you are completionists and you want more Swamp Fox just to fill the gaps. But I want Walt's wide-release films on DVD, and that's a possible goal. There's no way we could expect all of his TV product on DVD.
Zorro, great.
More Rarities, great.
Chip and Dale, great.
Even educational films, great --
-- But above all of these are the Oscar-nominated People and Places films. When one discusses the buried treasures of Walt's produced films, there are the lost Oswalds and Alice films, missing title cards from the Mickey shorts, the missing audio from the original release version of Fantasia, etc....but the People and Places films have languished in utter obscurity for decades now.
Time to dust them off. Time to honor the man who produced them and demonstrate yet again how ecelectic he was as a film producer.
It's time for the People and Places.

Absolutely correct! I really hope their releases on DVD are on the horizon....Rudy Matt wrote:PEOPLE AND PLACES!

I would rather see People and Places be used to revive the Legacy Collection. The Treasures line has primarily been used for short subjects and television programming. I think it would have been frustrating to have gotten all of the True Life Adventures through the Treasures line and even though there weren't as many People and Places, I think Legacy would be a better way to release them.
Also, if the rumors about Club 23 are true (rumored to be an online community for diehard Disney fans with exclusive merchandise), than perhaps many of these programs and films that we routinely beg for could be released through there.

As would I. I wonder if somehow we can petition to revive the legacy collection.goofystitch wrote:I would rather see People and Places be used to revive the Legacy Collection. But can all of the People and Places fit on a 2-disc set WITH bonus features?
The Alaskan Eskimo: 23 minutes
Siam: 32 minutes
Switzerland: 33 minutes
Men Against the Arctic: 30 minutes
Sardinia: 30 minutes
Disneyland U.S.A.: 42 minutes
Samoa: 32 minutes
The Blue Men of Morocco: 31 minutes
Lapland: 29 minutes
Portugal: 30 minutes
Wales: 25 minutes
Scotland: 25 minutes
The Ama Girls: 29 minutes
Seven Cities of Antarctica: 30 minutes
Cruise of the Eagle: 19 minutes
Japan: 28 minutes
The Danube: 28 minutes
Total: 496 minutes or 8 hours 16 minutes
So to release all of the People and Places features, you would need 4 discs. I would rather see all of them released at the same time through the Legacy Collection in two volumes rather than a "Vol. 1" in Wave IX of the Treasures and run the risk of the line being discontinued before Wave X.

Well, putting out a Vol. I puts pressure on the Mouse to finsh the rest, and some is better than none. There's no way Disney is going to release them in smoe other venue, you can't even get them to release The Sword and the Rose, let alone obscure travelogues.goofystitch wrote:But can all of the People and Places fit on a 2-disc set WITH bonus features?

Personally, I've always seen the Treasures line as a vehicle to showcase the career of Walt Disney. I know Maltin is big on nostalgia, but I think it has been a mistake to focus so much recent attention on Mickey Mouse Club serials and Walt's TV product at the exclusion of Walt's theatrical career. I know, I know, to each their own -- but as one who wants to see the series succeed and more importantly continue, and because there is no possible way the Treasures sets could serve as a vehicle for releasing all of the TV product, it doesn't serve Disney fans well or the Treasures line to release product like "Elfego Baca/Swamp Fox", or even Annette. An entire line of DVDs could be created to release the Mickey Mouse Club product, just as "season sets" of Elfego Baca, Swamp Fox, Gallagher, Texas John Slaughter, etc. could all be released.merlinjones wrote:The People and Places don't always hold up as well as the True Life Adventures (for me anyway). It would be nice to see a set released, but perhaps not until after the (many) other more pop/entertainment-oriented offerings have come out.
People and Places, however, is serious inside pool for Disney fans, similar to Victory Through Air Power and the war shorts, not to mention some of the shorts on the Rarities sets. I can't see Disney justifying a release of the films on DVD or Blu-Ray in any other venue BUT the Treasures line, as the hardcore Disney fans would snap them up and collectors would buy them just to have complete sets.
