To me, "Wizards" is definitely the best series running on the DC right now. While it doesn't evade some of the mistakes its brethren do on a daily basis (some annoying characters, forced humor, cheap effects etc.) there's an element of polish rarely seen in the other shows.

For example, the parents are NOT complete idiots or blank characters created to boss the cool kids around. These people can ACT, have authority and leave an impression in both the show and the viewer. Second, the main characters are actually like-able, even the wild, goofy ones. Finally, they can act. Maybe its just me but Selena Gomez, David Henrie and the younger brother (forget his name) flow very well and appear as realistic kids, even with sudden bouts of silliness (which Justin and Max are sometimes victims of).

Oh yes, the stories are quite interesting. They are quite varied and doesn't exploit its main "gimmick" (like "That's so Raven" did). The only ones that didn't strike a chord with me are the Wiz-tech episodes mainly because it tries so hard to rip Harry Potter off and that's where most of the silly and stupid acting lie. In other words, the series somehow become a TRUE DC show when they hit Wiz-tech.

But overall, its a decent show that proves to be better than expected. "Everything is not what it seems" fits the show perfectly.

oow, what about Phineas and Pherb?

But I agree with most of the things you said, except that not all the actors are that good; Jake T. Austin has much to learn. And I have no idea why
they would hire the actor who played the character of the boyfriend who hated Hannah Montana to be Alex's love interest, that guy seriously sucked in Hannah Montana, I didn't expect him to get any better but he did.

I admit I am warming up to it quite well. My main issue with P&F, as well as many "theme" shows (this is a problem that dates WAAAY back when animation was gaining momentum on TV and even as theatrical shorts), is that sooner of later the theme gets old. Every episode deals with Phineas and Ferb trying to find a way to spend summer, Candance tries HARD to show her mother and Perry goes on a mission against the evil Scientist.

Yes, they go to great lengths to keep this fun, creative, inventive and fresh, but sooner or later will get stale. The show is just starting, though, so we'll see if it somehow holds up.

Going back to Wizards, though, yeah I agree that not everything is perfect. But comparing this to, say, Hannah Montana, everything just flows smoothly and RIGHT.

no doubt about that; these shows are incredibly bad, I would have never expected this of Disney.

Hannah Montana, Suite Life on Deck, Cory in The House... they need a new show. Hopefully J.O.N.A.S. will be good, Welcome to Mollywood sounds like a
good version of Hanna Montana but Demi need acting lessons from Johnny Depp, only that could make her acting better.

This isn't WoWP: The Movie related, but it is related to the TV show:

tommy2.net says:

The soundtrack for Wizards Of Waverly Place will be released March 31st, 2009.

The Wizards go to Puerto Rico? On Friday, an interesting call for auditions was posted on Craig’s List in San Antonio, TX. According to the post, the Wizards of Waverly Place will be shooting a DCOM in Puerto Rico next month.

Actually, according to the ratings from the past few weeks, SLoD has been attracting more viewers than WoWP, among children 6-11 and Tweens 9 -14.

And I think I remember reading that in December, SLoD and WoWP actually beat HM in ratings for a couple weeks. I'm guessing SLoD is doing so well because a lot of girls can relate to the new "girl next door" character of Bailey, especially since the actress is much younger than Maddie or London.

and on another note...iCarly beats them all in the ratings yay! Sorry, I digress. Lol i just really love that show.

I can't see myself sitting down to watch a movie version of this, with or without the canned laughter. Still, I'm sure it has its share of fans who'll enjoy a movie-length episode.
I like the show. I know I'm not in the target demographic for it, but i find it entertaining because of the the cast chemistry: i really like that it's mostly focused on the family rather than the family being secondary. I like the whole magic secrecy premise too. And imo, no character is overly annoying (Rico) or overly dumb (London)...yet...

That's interesting...I guess nyc couldn't happen...or they're still trying to figure out a schedule for nyc. I wonder what the story could possibly be if they're in Puerto Rico and TX.
