I was searching today on Amazon, and happened to notice this cover art posted.



I personally like it, although I was hoping they would show more characters, like Phillip, Hercules, or Aladdin. Regardless, I think it looks really interesting and can't wait to see this released.

This book is going to be very interesting, it is high time the boys got some attention. They give a lot to the story as well I am suprised something like this hadn't come along sooner.

Prince Charming: Hello and welcome to our meeting! This has been a great month for the club. Prince Edward has joined our ranks, our MySpace page has reached over 200 subscribers and our Doll Con report was a great success! But most importantly, we have many new additions to our collection, so let's start with Prince Eric and see what he has.

Prince Eric: Thank You! I recently went to Ebay and obtained this rare Malibu Barbie for only 15 bucks!

The Princes: OOOOOOOOOOH!

Prince Eric: She came in her original package and the quality is impressive! Why the seller got rid of her I'll never know!

Prince Charming: That's a great find, Eric! Now let us listen to our newest member Prince Edward and see what he found!

Prince Edward: ITS MY GIRLFRIEND PRINCESS GISELLE IN HER WHITE WEDDING DRESS!

The Princes: GASP!

Prince Edward: *Looks at the other members. What? What happened?

Prince Charming: Um, see, one of the rules is that we never collect dolls based on our girlfriends or wives.

Prince Edward: And why is that??

Aladdin: Because its very creepy!

Prince Edward: THAT'S PREPOSTEROUS! If our princesses were meant to be dolls then we should embrace it!

*Picks up the Giselle doll and starts to dance

I'VE BEEN DREAMING OF TRUE LOVE'S KISS!

Prince Charming (To himself): Geez, we've picked up a weirdo...

Prince Charming: Anyways, going back to the meeting, what have YOU brought us today, Beast?

Aladdin: Hey, how come you are still a beast? Didn't Belle break the spell?

Beast: Yes, but it turns out that people like me better as a hairy monster than a human, so the Disney corporation forced me to become enchanted AGAIN!!!

Prince Phillip to Prince Snow White: And apparently, that has done WONDERS for his personality...

Beast, roaring: WHAT ARE YOU TWO TALKING ABOUT??????

Prince Charming: GUYS PLEASE! Whatever non club related topics can be discussed outside at the end of the meeting! Now, Beast, your doll?

Beast: Ah...oh, yes...

*Beast reaches into his pockets, pulls out an old, dusty, ugly Raggedy Ann doll

Aladdin: NO WAY! NO FREAKING WAY! What type of doll is that?!? Hey guys, we have to make Beast the MVP of the group for bringing...HIS CHEW TOY!

*The princes laugh uncontrollably

Prince Charming: GUYS! PLEASE RETAIN YOUR SANITY!!!

Beast: GRRRR!!!! THIS WAS MY MOTHER'S!!! I WON'T ALLOW YOU TO INSULT HER HONOR!!! GGGGGAAARRRRRGGH!

*Beast proceeds to destroy the room

Prince Charming: THE MEETING HAS OFFICIALLY FINISHED! WE'LL KEEP IN CONTACT REGARDING UPCOMING EVENTS! AND SOMEBODY PLEASE CONTROL THIS MONSTERS!

*One hour later, Prince Edward marches back into the room

Prince Edward: Oh Giselle, you are the loveliest dame in all the land! Marry me!

The Giselle doll *In high falsetto: Oh yes! I love you so much!

*Edward then notices the empty, damaged room

Prince Edward: Just what the heck happened here?

The Giselle doll *In high falsetto: I told you they were a bunch of weirdos, honey! Now kiss me!

Prince Edward: OK!

I liked Disney dolls,thought I don't have any doll beside a Bashful,I might have bought Giselle if they had her doll here.

As for the cover, eh, it could have been better. I was hoping for more red and gold and featuring guys like Phillip and Edward and not making Tarzan the most prominent person.

I think the only reason Tarzan is prominent is because of the (and Loincloths) bit. I like him, so I'm not that bothered. I mean, the cover doesn't really make the book anyway.

Just thought I would post another update after going on Amazon. It looks like the cover has now changed once again:



I think I personally like this new cover better than the old one. Particularly the background, and the rough sketches for Phillip, Edward, and John Smith.

I'm still curious though as to how the actual book's content will wind up looking and what images will be inside. I hope Jeff Kurtti is the one tapped to write the book, since I always enjoy his style of writing and his insights and analysises of the characters.

I'd like the cover better if Tarzan was shrunk a bit and the art of him was like the one on the collectors edition dvd, but that's just imo Anyways, can't wait to pick this up...when does it come out again?

Well, I think they're defining prince in this book along the same lines as the Disney Princess line. That way they have more to fill the book with, too. I'm glad, because I like some of those non-Princes better anyway.

So I'm wondering who all's going to be in this book anyway. Obviously all the direct princes, but I have a feeling this is going to turn out kind of annoying (again, like the DP line). I wonder if Hercules, Shang Li, Jim Hawkins, Phoebus, Quasimodo, Taran or Milo apply?

And I still think it's rather strange to have Prince Edward in the book. Not that I mind, of course, but he comes from a spoof of Disney films. He's not really from a DAC, is he? But I don't presume to understand Disney's methods of selection.

Edward is an animated Prince and there is a process in which creative designs must me made and developed to serve the characters purpose in the film. Plus he represents past ones so it's only natural for him to be included for comparison sake. I'm glad he is included.

But how obscure could they get? Could we get artwork sketches/designs/renderings for the Fighting Prince of Donegal? If Disney was cool enough they would.

Based on the description of the book, I think the title "Neglected Prince" could be referring to how the Disney Princess line has taken over the world and people forget about the Disney Heroes, especially since Jasmine has gotten more attention then Aladdin when, like you said, Aladdin is the namesake of his movie. I mean, you don't see many Disney Hero/Prince action figures and themed merchandise compared to the Princesses. Even in the theme parks, the Princesses are clearly the focus in shows and parades, their princes are present because it's their other half. If the Princes were not neglected, I highly doubt they decided to parade in a Pink Castle or something.

Then again, Megara and Jane aren't as popular as Hercules and Tarzan in my opinion, so that theory might not be so true after all...

Either way, this book looks exciting and I can't wait to get it! The art galleries are my favorite part of DVD bonus features, so having more of them in book form is truly a treat! =)
