Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway

Post by Ting Ting »

As most of you know, Rent's final Broadway performance was filmed and released in select cinemas a few weeks later. Surprisingly, the fans voices were heard, and the final performance is being released on DVD and Blu-Ray in just a few weeks!

I saw it with my theatre friends, and it was incredible. I literally cried my eyes out.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the stage version of Rent, please check it out on DVD. The film is fantastic, but this is just so much more. It truly is.

Here's the cover-art:

Any idea if there's going to be a Region 2 edition?

I'll be buying this for sure. I hope sales are good enough so other Broadway shows get released on Blu-ray and DVD.

I'm currently making plans to see Rent when it comes to Texas. I need to. I'll be buying this for sure; I just can't believe how long it took them.

Yeah, uh, it probably won't... there's an incredibly complex process to go through to release filmed versions of stage shows. Most shows are filmed, but they're seldom if ever released to the general public like this.

Ahhhhh cool! I'm getting it. I love Eden and Tracie.... :P But I don't think I'll watch the DVD till March... I'm seeing the show then and I've never seen it live, only the movie.

I saw this in theaters during its limited Hot Ticket engagement. It was really good. I'll be getting the Blu-Ray, which is about the same price as what I paid to see it (I found it hard to swallow that it was $23 per person to see it at a movie theater).

I think I might download a rental to my PS3. Unless there's any good features/menus on the DVD/BD?

There are some special features about the end of the show and stuff like that. The main one ("The Final Days on Broadway") is very touching.

Well, either way, I rented it on my PS3, and I agree. It's a good show Quite different from the movie.
