Do the WDT include ALL of the shorts for each character?

Post by ZOOMBOOM0688 »

Hi, I was looking at my WDTs and I wondered if since these were being called "Complete" and whatever if they actually included ALL of the shorts for each set. I know the Looney Tunes didn't include all the shorts.

Yes and No I think. I believe Goofy is missing a few shorts, and Pluto's sets are missing Pluto's Judgement Day which for some reason is on one of the Mickey tins :?

If you have the time/patience I'd suggest checking the WDT Reviews and then check this thread.

There was another similar thread that broke it down by character but I'm still a noob in the use of the Search unlike Search Master Scaps :P

What they are supposed to include are all the shorts that are "starring" the character in question (not including ones made for TV or that came out after the Treasures sets, like the latest Goofy short). For example, I believe Pluto's Judgement Day is technically a Mickey Mouse cartoon, and that is why it is in the Mickey set and not the Pluto set. As for if anything truly is missing, I haven't looked into it and don't remember noticing or reading about anything missing, and others (Escapay?) probably already have an answer prepared for this question. :D

Of course, some characters like Chip 'n' Dale and Jiminy Cricket haven't had a Treasures set under there name, so there are still a lot of shorts we are still waiting on.

I went on to WIKIPEDIA and looked up all the mickey mouse ones and they all seemed to be included. But I didn't look up any other characters or the Silly Symphonies.

Here's the thread: (it's found in the list of helpful links in UD Forum Posting Guidelines and Helpful Links)

Character filmographies and animated short DVD availability

Though you'll have to go to the last page and see this post by goofystitch which updates it with the Treasures sets.

That post will have to be updated, though, to include the April releases of the Walt Disney Animation Collection.

Silly Simphonies are complete.

Mickey Mouse are complete with the exception of the two early 1980s shorts. However, these shorts had no new animation in them.

Donald Duck - complete

Pluto - complete. Pluto's Judgement Day is a Mickey Mouse cartoon.

Goofy - complete if you only consider it by title card. However, there are 3 shorts including the 2 Freewayphbias that have not been released.

Whether they're "complete" or not depends on one's definition of the term...

As for Chip & Dale, please note that most of their appearances in classic shorts are in fact in DD shorts (and possibly a few in MM and/or Pluto shorts?) - there are only about three - 3 - C&D shorts missing from the WDTs. Which is "bad enough", of course - I hope they'll be included in a set eventually (or rather this year). But I'm not so sure I'd want it to be a C&D set.

No, I didn't mean that Chip 'n' Dale should actually have their own set. I would expect them to be in a second Rarities or something like that. Jiminy could share a set with another character, as has been suggested before.

No, when I say so it is those Saludos Amigos
Three caballeros stagements etc as cut out standalone shorts. How to Ride a Horse is only able as part of The Reluctant Dragon.

Yes, when all the original shorts I think expect from Mousework/House of Mouse shorts.
Der Fuehrer's Face is the greatest Donald Duck cartoon ever made.

We just watched The AristoCats today, and it had a Figaro short on it. My mom and I had both almost forgotten about this kitten, and I was going to ask if all of his shorts were on DVD, but that updated link that Escapay posted showed that they are..
