Yeah I laughed at that when I saw it (cos Donald Applecore is one of my fave CnD shorts I went to view it first cos I hadn't seen it in ages)... it's meant to be "arsenic" of course but hey, anything slipping past the censors

Depending on someone else to get them, or hoping someone else will get them for me, I found has cost me dearly in some of the waves of the WDT's. I plan ahead, and when they come out, I am on them like PB&J on bread.
So are you saying that the WDT should be a Christmas bought for you by you? That you should just get that yourself only?
Well, none of my comments matter anymore, because the Donald 4 finally arrived! It took them long enough, but better late than never, I guess.

So I made the mistake of forgetting about the Treasures and procrastinating and now I’m paying the price (literally).

Annette is the only one that can be easily found. I bought it from amazon when it was 24.99 (and used a gift certificate I had) and a couple of hours later the price went up to 29.99. So I lucked out there.

For Donald vol 4 I managed to get it for $34 shipped at best buy’s site (that hurt a bit as it’s $12 more than I’m used to paying for these things).

Question about that, since one of the discs has 5 seconds missing, was a replacement ever issued out?

As for Dr Syn, seems I’m never gonna be able to get that without paying a lot of money. So I’m out of luck!

No, it hasn't and it is highly unlikely (if not impossible) that it will.

On Tuesday, Bobby (my husband) and I were at Epcot, and we were looking at DVDs & CDs. They had one Dr. Syn set, and I said how I was surprised, since it's rare now to find one. Bobby ended up buying it (for $29.99) and will be selling it either around Christmas or afterwards. I was disappointed, since I told him, what if someone who really wants it can't buy it now because of him, and he said something, but I don't remember, but it's rude. Anyhoo, that's my story. :x

I really dislike people who buy things up just to re-sell it at a higher price to make a profit :x

IF you or anyone wants Dr Syn my local FYE still had 2 copies left as of last weekend. They are asking over $30 for them, more then any of the other two treasures volumes they had....but still its cheaper then what its going for on the second hand market. If interested let me know and id be happy to help anyone out who would be interested. :)

Ah, but that's capitalism at its core: buy low, sell high.

I hate scalpers and everyone like them. They ruin it for everyone else. I can't get a concert ticket for big name concerts at normal prices thanks to scalpers. I can't get older Disney treasure waves thanks to those who inflate the price to ridiculously high levels. It's dirty business.

I concur with you, but then again that's the way the world is and it's very hard to alter human nature. If there is profit to made, even at the expense of others, someone will do.

Also, it is not just scalpers that are to blame. Big name concerts (tickets, merchandise, etc.) are expensive because they are high-demand commodities and people are willing to pay top dollar for them. Same with professional sports and many other sectors of the entertainment industry.

The point of any business, "dirty" or "clean", is to make profit because if it doesn't it becomes extinct.

I don't think it is necessarily dirty (I must point out I don't sell anything so I don't do it myself nor would I) but it is massively frustrating. I have been after a decent priced Goofy Disney Treasure for years. I am not looking for one in a tin but I want to own my own copy. I foolishly decided when it came out that I wasn't interested in Goofy, just Mickey and maybe Donald. I still laugh at myself thinking about how I held the copy in my hand at Best Buy making that very decision and putting it back on the shelf!

eBay only has it starting at $75-$100 which is ridiculous. I bought one off of eBay once for $25 only to have the bidder never send me the discs. He basically fell of the Earth at that point.

The search continues....

I feel really lucky that I finally picked up Donald Vol. 4 at Best Buy; since I picked up some extra money this week I did an extremely thorough online search with local stores yesterday. At this point I'm guessing it's the only store in the city that has it available (and they still have 5 copies let).

I still need to pick up volume 3 one of these days as well, I'm sure that'll be much more difficult so wish me luck.

What I don't understand is that most stores like these often have Pluto DVDs in stock. What's going on? I guess Pluto just isn't popular. Poor guy...

Funny, I've been finding stacks of Donald volume 2 all over the place.

They printed a lot more copies of Pluto than they did these most recent Treasure waves.

We really all just need to remember that the Treasure series is a LIMITED EDITION COLLECTION. Once the print run is sold its gone and you fall at the mercy of the second hand market....where demand determines value. I hope all of you who are grieving over missed oppertunites get your chance to add the desired volumes to your collections at a decent price. I also hope everyone who frequets this thread and enjoys the treasures has started saving their money for the next wave so you can pre order your volumes well in advance so there will be no more sad faces and frustration expressed on here.

Best of luck to all you Treasure Hunters!

Buy low, sell high - that's capitalism indeed, like it or not.

As for the WDTs, we've pretty much known for years now: Go get them while you can!

Compared to the original price of these sets, $75-100 and thereabouts is a bit much. Yet I don't think it'd be entirely unreasonable considering the price one used to pay for a VHS or laserdisc with about six classic shorts years ago. If I'd had to, I'd "happily" pay $100 for the Goofy set. I'm even more happy I don't have to, though.

Oh man this stinks......I just now want to buy a WDT's set (Mickey Mouse B&W vol. 2) and the closest bb that has it is 90 min away, local one "unavailable".
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.
