I just returned from Orlando and I got to experience this attraction twice in soft opening during my trip (as well as the new Kim Possible Future World attraction which has soft opened at Epcot). I consider myself an average viewer of the show and the Disney version does a great job of making you feel as if you were attending a taping of the show. However, the talent both times wasn't very great and since it isn't officially open yet, they aren't able to give the golden dream pass to the winners. The best part about it is the stage and the host, who makes lots of jokes about things they do on the show. The worst part about it are the judges, who aren't named Randy or Paula or Simon, but who act just like them (a big black guy who says "dawg", a female judge who used to perform with no real input to give, and a British man who is overly critical and rarely has anything nice to say). As with the real show, the judges have no say in who moves on because the audience gets to vote from their seat. Both shows I attended were by no means full, and so a lot of people would stand up and vote multiple times by touching key pads on empty seats nearby. It was funny when a girl won with almost 300 votes and there were about 150 people actually in the theater (which holds almost 1,000). I don't know if its just because its not officially open yet or what, but it is not popular at the moment.

Do you have to be "American" to audition for American Idol ?

If not then I'm just gonna go there and audition, just so I could get a conformation on whether my voice sucks or not. (I get mixed reviews ! :P )

I think I could sing those songs pretty well, but I'd really like to know do you honestly have to be American to audition ? I'm not really serious about getting that certificate I just want to prove that I can do it. :)

http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/media ... I_FAQs.pdf
Q: If I do not satisfy the American Idol television program contestant requirements (such as the age requirement or the U.S. citizenship/residency requirement), am I still eligible to audition at The American Idol Experience attraction and, if selected, sing on stage and possibly receive the Dream Ticket?

A: Yes. Guests do not need to satisfy the American Idol television program contestant requirements to be eligible to audition, sing on stage and receive the Dream Ticket at The American Idol Experience attraction…Guests who receive the Dream Ticket and do not satisfy the American Idol television program contestant requirements will not be eligible to use the Dream Ticket to schedule an audition for the American Idol television show. Dream Ticket recipients who do not satisfy the American Idol television program contestant requirements may, as their only benefit of receiving the Dream Ticket (except for the limited circumstances described in the next paragraph of this answer), retain the Dream Ticket or transfer it one time to a permitted transferee (the “Dream Ticket” section of these FAQs provides additional information concerning the one-time permitted transfer of a Dream Ticket).

If a Dream Ticket recipient does not, as of the date of receiving the Dream Ticket, satisfy the American Idol television program contestant requirements, such Dream Ticket recipient may retain the Dream Ticket and, in certain limited circumstances, later satisfy the American Idol television program contestant requirements and then become eligible to use the Dream Ticket to schedule an audition for the American Idol television show.

Q: If I am an original Dream Ticket recipient, but I don’t satisfy the eligibility requirements to audition as a contestant for the American Idol television series, am I permitted to transfer the Dream Ticket to someone else?

A: Yes, a one-time transfer is permitted subject to conditions and limitations.

If the original Dream Ticket recipient does not, as of the date of proposed transfer of the Dream Ticket, satisfy the eligibility requirements of the American Idol television series in effect as of the proposed transfer date, the original Dream Ticket recipient will be permitted to transfer the Dream Ticket to another individual who, as of the date of proposed transfer of the Dream Ticket, is not a Restricted Individual [someone who works for Disney, basically] and satisfies the eligibility requirements of the American Idol television series in effect as of the proposed transfer date (the permitted Dream Ticket Transferee).

Lol, I think you should give it to someone else who would actually audition. Stage fright + my lack of talent would mean that I wouldn't audition. :p
