This isn't my main desktop, but I thought I'd post it anyway. This is the Windows 7 Beta running in Virtual PC 2007. The menu bar at the top and bottom are not part of Windows 7, its just the window for Virtual Machine running on my Vista desktop.
So far 7 is ok. Its hard to judge it compared to Vista on a Virtual PC rather than actually installing it since it emulates a PC and doesn't use your exact hardware drivers, etc... It seems stable, but I'm not sure I like the new taskbar. Maybe it will grow on me. For people that prefer to switch XP and Vista to Classic mode and make it look like 98/2000 this option is gone in 7. Not sure if it will be added back or not.
It should be a good Windows upgrade whenever its released (supposed to be end of 2009/early 2010). Its surprising how stable it is for a Beta, although it feels more like Vista Second Edition than a completely new operating system...
If anyone wants to check it out its available from Microsoft right now for about another week for free. Keep in mind its a beta, and everything might not work. It expires on July 1, 2009. No word if another beta/release candidate will replace it or that will be it for Windows 7 until its released. The file sizes are also pretty big. The 32 bit version is 2.43 GB, and the 64 bit version is 3.15 GB.
