I can't help but get the impression that is the situation here. [...]

Yes, I'm aware that the old shorts were not intended only for entertaining children. But, again, I find myself wondering if you've really seen that many MouseWorks shorts, because I really believe you are making an over-generalization. [...]

But your arguments do make it sound like your criticism is due to it being new/different, that's the problem. [...]

Ah, there's some of that prejudice I knew was there finally poking its head out.
Look, as long as you keep repeating this meme whenever somebody has a different opinion than yours, any usefull discussion stops. Frankly, I'm getting tired of having to 'defend' my motives for criticizing a certain kind of animation. That I have to defend the sincerity in my criticism on a discussion forum, of all places, is really absurd. Look, if you can't handle criticism of your favorite show, that can happen, but then don't pretend I'm not sincere in my motives.

I will gladly continue this discussion with you when you are ready to leave those kinds of personal remarks behind.

No hard feelings toward anyone, OK
But here's the thing, artistically good or not they are still canon. They still star Disney characters, they're made by Disney etc.

Everything has it's worth, let's do an example.

A Penny (the Mouseworks shorts) may not be worth much, but it's still money (still Canon)

On the other hand a 100$ bill is worth a lot (the older shorts) and it's also still money (Hello Captain Obvious I know but bear with me, also Canon)

I tend to suck at making a comparison. Where's Scaps when you need to borrow his brain? :P

Off watching The Goonies.

I'm keeping out of this discussion because I already said my piece (that I like them because I grew up with both the classic and the Mouse Works shorts, so I'm glad for the inclusion though I'd rather it get its own DVD release.) and made my comparison (Lawrence Olivier, star of good films like Wuthering Heigihts and of bad films like The Jazz Singer).

They used to show it on the Disney Channel on shows like Donald Duck Presents.

I'm kind of neutral on the inclusion of the Mouseworks shorts on these DVDs. I mean, I was a bit surprised to see them here, but I think it was an interesting surprise.

But it's not like they haven't had recent shorts on the Treasures before. Have about the three Mickey shorts featured on the second Mickey In Color DVD (Mickey's Christmas Carol, The Prince and the Pauper and Runaway Brain)?
