Mark Twain's "The Adventues of Huck Finn"

We had to read this book in English and I did not understand it at all. I know what happened and everything, but it's just not my type of book. My teacher gave us an assignment due tomorrow and I was wondering if someone could maybe help me? Here it is:

Select 5 characters that you believe Twain admires and 5 you believe Twain does not admire. Name and describe the specific traits each character possesses which illustrates why he/she is or is not an admirable character. What do you believe Twain's purpose is for including each of these characters?

This book is really not tolerable at all and I could use any help I could get. Thanks in advance!

Ha ha, we finished this about 2 months ago. Off the top of my head, are obviously Huck and Tom (for admiring). Essentially Twain wrote himself as Tom; always being a leader, taking chances, outsmarting his friends, quite imaginable. Huck could be admired because he did what he knew was right and not what society was trying to tell him to do.

I know that Twain would not have admired the King and the Duke because he was totally satarzing the human race in those two characters; they just made stuff up and were completely idiotic.

Twain probably would have admired Jim as well for always doing the right thing even though he had little to zero wiggle room in the whole situation that he was in.
