I know you guys will be faster than google... WWOD question!

Okay, so my mother asked me to find out about this program, she saw it (rerun, obviously) in the mid-90's, probably on vault disney.

It was an old episode of Wonderful World of Color, or Disney, and was one of their little documentaries on the housecat, talking about why certain cats behave the way they do, and how it depends on where they come from, how early they interact with people, etc, etc..

Trying to find this info, tried searching the forum, but don't have too much to go on.

She said it wasn't animated at all, and was more like a mini documentary. She says it looked like it was from the 60's or so.

Thanks for any help!

Hmmm, thanks for your effort, but it seems a no go.

The one I'm looking for was live-action (or so she says), and it talked about Feral cats, and feral cats raised indoors, and cats born inside touched by people from birth, and how this effects their trust/personalities with people, etc.

She says she's certain it was an old Disney program.

I think most of the program IS live-action. My thought would be "The Great Cat Family" as well. The clips online are pretty much only the animated segments. Only 12 minutes of this hour long program are presented in the clips. My guess is that if you saw the rest of the program (all the live action stuff about cats), you'd find what you were looking for. Maybe not, though. Is there anything else you could give us?

Perhaps your mother is remembering the 1969 "Wonderful World of Color" two-night broadcast of 1967's Charlie, the Lonesome Cougar? That was a live-action semi-documentary movie about a baby cougar who is raised by humans.

Other than that and "The Great Cat Family" I can't think of what else it might be.

Yeah, you guys are probably right. Anywhere to see the full episode (of either) and not just the animated segments.

Charlie the Lonesome Cougar is readily available on dvd, but I just watched it recently, and I sincerely don't think it's what you're describing. It may be The Great Cat Family that you're looking for, but I don't believe that episode is available anywhere except for the animated segment which is on The Aristocats dvd.

Wow, I don't remember seeing any of "The Great Cat Family" before except the short bit from the Halloween program! Is the complete animated segment on the new Aristocats DVD? I still only have the Gold Collection one.

It ticks me off when they just put part of a Disney episode as a bonus instead of the full episode! That would have been a great bonus on the Aristocats special edition in its complete form, and I would have made a point to buy it right away just for that! As it is, I have only sorta wanted to buy it because it's supposed to have the right aspect ratio (isn't it?) on the feature, though even just the animated segment from Great Cat Family makes it more appealing to double dip. But really, why not just give the whole episode!
