An official announcement has yet to be made, though the DVDs will be re-released February 10, meaning that the Blu-Rays would likely also come in first-quarter 2009.

The four films have been released in the UK, and they're region free. All bonus features have been ported over. To see what Batman and Batman Returns look like on BD, click here. So you can just import them

Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring 'Batman: The Motion Picture Anthology' to Blu-ray on March 10th. This box set will feature the four Batman feature films made between 1989-1997 - 'Batman', 'Batman Returns', 'Batman Forever', and 'Batman & Robin' - in 1.85:1 1080p VC-1 accompanied by 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtracks.
This five-disc set (one of the films will come a two-disc set, while the others will only be one BD-50) features the following special features:
* 18 Hours of Must See Profiles, Documentaries, and Making-of Featurettes
* Director's Commentary by Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher
* 9 Music Videos

Thanks, jrboy!
The wishful thinking in me is hoping that the two-disc Blu-Ray will be Batman Forever and have it feature the 150-minute Director's Cut (even though that could be done with seamless branching).
I think it'll likely be for Batman, since its bonus disc really was more packed than the other three films.
They still can't get the rights for U2's "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" music video?

I don't know if its been confirmed, but word on Blu-ray.Com is that the Digibook Batman comes on a BD25 and a DVD9 (for special features as they're all in SD anyway). I'm not sure about this being as the UK has a BD50 Batman with features on disc. Perhaps the second disc is a digital copy?

LAZ, the DVDs are being reissued at the same time as the Blu-rays in the US - probably a few dollars cheaper than last time too.Lazario wrote:Yeah, this is really awesome. Let's forget that they forced the non-BluRay discs out of print so that you can't buy them unless you upgrade to the new BluRay system.
Said it before and I'll say it again- Warner friggin' think they're the new Disney.![]()

I think your avatar doesn't like me. I can see the quiet disapproval in her eyes. Would you tell her from me that it's not polite to stare! And that she should learn a thing or 2 about manners.2099net wrote:LAZ, the DVDs are being reissued at the same time as the Blu-rays in the US - probably a few dollars cheaper than last time too.
When it comes to DVD, I'm a freak. And unless Warner is going to reissue more affordable copies of all the DVDs they're forcing out of print, I'm not taking back what I said. People should be able to have a choice. To buy the newer special edition or a former edition. Who needs yet another remastered multi-disc edition of Gone with the Wind?? Wasn't the 3-disc edition and the 4-disc edition and the 2-disc edition and the 7-disc edition and the 29-disc edition enough??? And what about this whole Wizard of Oz thing?
This is ridiculous and I think even you would have to admit that! And there's a huge difference between what Warner's doing now and what Anchor Bay has done in the past, I remember you were really not happy with something I said before. Well, you could still get copies of their DVD's months after a newer special edition would come out. What Warner is doing here is downright sick. You buy The Newer Edition, or else. That's b.s. and if you're not bothered by that, may the storm clouds be over your head for once.

I must say, I have no desire to buy these in the next several years, but I like that they're using the R2 art instead of the deluxe DVD art from R1. I like the logo covers.
I also love the "Batman Returns" "And Christopher Walken, too!" capping off the blurb. It makes it sound like a 70's variety show.

"Ta ta ta taaaa! Look at me... I'm a snowman! I'm gonna go stand on someone's lawn if I don't get something to do around here pretty soon!"
I've changed it now. I'm excited about the upcoming Companions and Allies book.Lazario wrote:I think your avatar doesn't like me. I can see the quiet disapproval in her eyes. I'm not particularly offended about what Warner is doing with its "classic" releases. I do expect the new Batman Anthology DVDs to be cheaper than the previous release. After all, we're in a recession - only a foolish company would release the same content for a higher price. I don't exactly know what's going on in Warners' mind, but they probably feel by that time, Batman in general could do with a fresh marketing push to promote not only the earlier films, but also Nolan's films too - the Dark Knight hype having worn off. When it comes to DVD, I'm a freak. As for films like Wizard of Oz, I can sort of see your point. But its not as if Warners done a Disney as such. I was available for a long time and hasn't been off the market for long either. Again, I don't know Warners thinking, but if the Blu-ray gets a some new featurettes (purely so that they can be in HD) it sort of makes sense to make them available on a new DVD too - or else people would be complaining about Blu-ray getting something DVD didn't. I'm not sure if that will happen - Warners have been happy to release most of their catalogue Blu-rays with SD supplements in the past. But if it is, it shows Warners simply can't please everybody at the same time.
I do however have a problem with how Warners are now releasing their "recent" movies... The UCEs of I Am Legend, 300 and Sex and the City are all inexcusable in my opinion. We all knew each was likely to get an more detailed SE later - but to only offer them with value-added price increasing physical pack-ins in wrong. I can't really understand this... before they always made sure the non-value added DVDs were always available alongside the UCE gubbins packs releases.
It's not just a step in the wrong direction for Warners, but a 100m sprint in the wrong direction. (Along with some Warners TV complete series releases getting extra supplements). Don't Warners realise that there lots of people who would like a more feature packed 300 or I Am Legend, but aren't interested in postcards, sketch book or film cels?

Great! Now a lot of people here will be buying these along with Pinnochio! I think I'll just rent them. Never sure about a purchase until I see the movie.disneyboy20022 wrote:ValenciaJoe wrote:I don't think it was mentioned in prior posts but the blu-ray box set is scheduled to come out on Tuesday, March 10.thedigitalbits.com wrote:By the way, for those of you wondering of Warner's Batman: The Motion Picture Anthology Blu-ray set is still on schedule for release on 3/10, it is. I doubt it Aaron. Both the Dirty Harry and Matrix "franchises" had boxsets and digibook releases of the first films, but none in the boxset.
Think yourself lucky though. We don't get the digibooks at all in the UK (although the only one I would have got is How the West Was Won, which sadly would benefit greately from the "book" part for information being as for some reason the announced Making Of was dropped from the release).
