The Lion King on Blu-ray?

Post by bambifan56 »

Well I was given a Blu-Ray for Christmas and so now I'm looking to replace my Bambi and Lion King on Blu-Ray. I know they showed part of TLK at the CES 2008 on Blu-Ray so I only assume it's in the works? Any idea? Hopefully they will add a few trailers and the original making of video. Also, maybe they'll change those croc's back to the original form like they promised.

So any info on the Bambi or Lion King release dates would be deeply appreciated.

BTW, Blu-Ray is amazing, the quality is compareable to VHS vs DVD.

They will most certainly come out on Blu-ray, but I'm afraid you'll have to wait a few years.

The tentative release schedule has The Lion King for autumn 2011 and Bambi for 2013.

Don't get your hopes up... knowing Disney it'll be the same crappy IMAX print as before.

Though if they DO use the OTV, I'll be genuinely surprised.

As far as Bambi, that'll probably be like the same restoration as the PE they already made.

If it ain't OTV, it ain't worth anything!

I doubt they will put on the correct version for the BD, the HD version is probably already made for the previous PE, and this will be the exact same transfer. Although I would give Disney a lot of credits if they did go back to the original theatrical version. Both of them (for the people who liked the song) could be put on a Blu-Ray easily. Perhaps even the OAR?
