Myers fans, make more room on your DVD shelf. Sources tell ShockTillYouDrop.com that an ad will appear this week in one of the video trade papers announcing a new six-disc (!) Halloween: 30th Anniversary box set. The latest presentation will include multiple presentations of John Carpenter's 1978 film - including a Blu-Ray edition and the rare extended edition. As an incentive, distributor Anchor Bay will package the set with a miniature Michael Myers mask. Look for full specs and artwork here on Shock soon!
And news and cover art on CE of RZ's Halloween here:

News and Cover Art for the '78 Halloween 30th AE:
http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/halloween4.html
"Anchor Bay has revealed early details on Halloween: The 30th Anniversary Commemorative Set. The 6-disc package will include the original 1978 film, the extended edition which has been out of print for several years, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, a Halloween 25 Years of Terror documentary with cast and crew, and a bonus Blu-ray release of Halloween. On top of all that, the collectible set will include a replica of the Michael Myers mask."
Let's just hope the specs for this set will be good.

Knowing Anchor Bay, I have a feeling that there isn't going to be any major A/V improvement, or many new bonus features in this set.
(only my guesses, not the official contents)
Disc 1: Halloween Theatrical Cut - probably the same disc and/or extras as the 25th Anniversary Divimax version.
Disc 2: Either a slightly improved version of the Extended Cut, or maybe even the same exact disc as the old OOP version.
Disc 3: The current Halloween IV Divimax version.
Disc 4: The current Halloween V Divimax version.
Disc 5: The current Halloween: 25 Years of Terror disc.
Disc 6: Blu Ray (maybe some BR exclusive extras?)

Ah, Directors and their loathe for additional scenes. Get over it, you dorks! I'm still upset that Criterion's Videodrome doesn't come with the additional scenes. Word is that Cronenberg just didn't want them on there. Well, who cares what he wants?
No, I am appreciative that directors give so much of their time for DVD bonus features, but... at the cost of something great, like the limo scene with Debbie Harry?? That's just plain old not fair!
Anyway, I've got what I need from this little box. It would have been nice for Anchor Bay to have included those TV scenes in their 25th Anniversary Edition, but they are on YouTube, so I'll save my bitching for their next re-release of Silent Night, Deadly Night - which after only 1 year's availability - has been discontinued already!

Do you own the disc? If not, Amazon still has some used, and also has the main page saying "temporarily out of stock" I have ordered OOP titles from Amazon before, and they have actually shipped some of them quite a bit later. Amazon.ca has a used one as well.
If Anchor Bay owns all of the titles, I could see them doing a box set on that series one of these days.
