Re: 2009 in Film - What are you seeing?
I know I'm definitely seeing this film on May 8 no matter what:
STAR TREK
And I really want to see these in theatres, even though I rarely go to the theatre:
Fanboys (February 6)
New York, I Love You (February 13)
Watchmen (March 6)
Up (May 22)
A Christmas Carol (November 6)
The Lovely Bones (December 11)
Avatar (December 18 )
While these I may end up seeing because the siblings/cousins may want to make a group event of it:
X-Men: Wolverine (May 1)
Terminator: Salvation (May 22)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (June 26)
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (July 17)
These are currently unscheduled, though I know I'll want to see them:
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
The Time Traveler's Wife
When in Rome
Young Americans
I'll likely blindbuy these on DVD:
Confessions of a Shopaholic (February 13)
Race to Witch Mountain (March 13)
This Side of the Truth (March 20)
Adventureland (March 27)
Monsters vs. Aliens (March 27)
17 Again (April 17)
The Soloist (April 24)
Night at the Museum 2: Battle at the Smithsonian (May 22)
I Love You Beth Cooper (July 10)
500 Days of Summer (July 24)
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (July 24)
Fame (September 25)
Where the Wild Things Are (October 16)
Astro Boy (October 23)
Sherlock Holmes (November 20)

I think I'm not gonna go to the movies often next year, I've installed a 7.1 surround system, and I'm expecting my new HD projector to arrive about a couple of months later along with a 36" screen, so I'm defenitly gonna spend more on Blurays next year and less on going to the movies.
But I'm defenitly gonna watch most of the movies that are coming out on 3D :
- Toy Story
- Up
- Avatar
- Monsters Vs. Aliens
- A Christmas Carol
As well as :
-Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince
-The Princess & the Frog
-Sherlock Holmes
And anything that looks like it might get an Oscar.

Just going by the trailer, it already looks terrible in my opinion. I haven't watched Speed Racer either, but it looks better than Dragonball.Just Myself wrote:Well after the disaster that was Speed Racer, I've pretty much sworn off all Japanese cartoon to live action adaptations. Also, I don't think Dragonball is gonna be very high on most people's radar.....

You mean Dragonball Evolution as it is now called.rs_milo_whatever wrote:Why is everyone forgetting the new Dragonball film?
I'm forgetting it because the idea of a 2 hour movie based on Dragonball makes me want to vomit. A mini-series I could see being decent, but a stand alone movie based on the series just cannot work.

I don't even really know yet what movies are gonna come out next year, but here are some I am planning on seeing, but this list might get a lot longer:
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
The boat that rocked
The young Victoria (although I am not really a big fan of Emily Blunt)
Dorian Gray
The ugly truth
New in Town
And of course, The Princess and the frog and UP.
