Konami VS UDE for the control of Yu-gi-oh TCG in USA

Post by disneyboy20022 »

This is when you know that the economy is bad....when Konami Wants to take over UDE's (UpperDeck Entertainment not Ultimate Disney's Escapay) distribution rights of the Yu-gi-oh Trading Card Game in the USA....(which is a hobby I enjoy...and it's not just a kid's game....there are 30-70 year olds playing this game as well...I mean one Yu-gi-oh Card called Dark Armed Dragon is worth $125 right now on Ebay and Crush Card Virus from the Gold Series is roughly going for $225...(no I don't own either of them)

When reading this story in Mind keep this is in mind as well...
UDE and Komami were sharing a 10 year contract, with UDE supplying the cards over this end while Komami made them, starting at 2000 and ending at 2010, however, Komami broke that agreement 1 year short and decided to take things on itself, hence the massive sueage.
Which the sum of that money that Upper Deck would lose is about 75 Million Dollars...so Konami would have to pay Upper Deck a $75 million dollar fine if Upper Deck were to just let Konami take control Konami would have to pay UDE that sum in a settlement...

But as it turns out Upper Deck Entertainment does not want to give it up...In Fact they filed an Injunction which details on that can be found here..and that Injunction is to be heard on December 22nd. in The Netherlands...
