Thrift store Laserdisc finds

Post by skippy »

I was able to pick up laserdiscs for Dumbo, Pollyanna {2 disc), and Parent Trap {2 disc) at a thrift store the other day...

Without having to dig out the laserdisc player and look for myself, anyone know what the bonus contents are on these discs, or a site that talks about disney laserdisc content?

Any ones that I should look out for as having really cool bonus content?

You can use DisneyInfo to search the laserdisc database.

None of the laserdiscs you mentioned (Dumbo, Pollyanna, and I'm assuming the Hayley Mills Parent Trap) contain special features. They're about as barebones as they come.

Look for the ones from the Exclusive Archive Collection, Deluxe Edition, or (#) Anniversary Edition. There are also some regular laserdiscs without a banner title that has special features (For example, the Something Wicked This Way Comes laserdisc has a commentary that's not on the DVD).

I used to have a list of Disney movies and their laserdisc-exclusive content, but I can't find it at the moment. When I find it, I'll post it here.

Look for the Academy aspect ratio version of Lady and the Tramp :D

That thing is more or less impossible to find... so if someone finds it at a shop it would be really useful.
