That's why he said besides DVDs like Cinderella, bambi,... ;) That means he doesn't have those.

Anyway, to stay on topic... My "missing Classic list" would be too big since I own about 13 Disney dvds in total ;) From the ones I remember I really need :

Beauty and the Beast
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Lilo & Stitch

Since I liked those very much. But there are a LOT more classics I should buy. Just don't have the money :P

The ones I missed out on or haven't bought yet are:
- Make Mine Music (which I will continue to miss until they release the full thing)
- Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad (on order)
- Lady and the Tramp
- 101 Dalmatians
- The Jungle Book
- Mulan

And the ones I couldn't have possibly bought (legally) are:
- Bambi
- Cinderella
- Aladdin (on order)

So there are 9 of them, but of those 9 I have 2 on order, 5 will be Platinum and I will get soon enough, and 1 I won't get until it is complete. Mulan, who knows what is happening with that, really...

Only missing three

Post by Peter Pan »

Of all the Disney animated movies i am only missing

1. Aladdin this fall
2. Bambi next spring
3. Cinderella who knows?

I have been buying them all as they have been released from the beginning just before the holidays in 1999 when they started finally releasing them.

Some are pretty sad in content. I had up to 1998 been collecting the disney animated classics on laserdisc until they quit them in 1998 a clue that DVD was up next and i was right but it took them almost another year to do it.

I still say the boxset laserdiscs by way of supplemental content still surpasses most of the DVDs released to this point in time.

As for whether the movies come out in special edition platinum edition masterpeice edition etc i could care less i go for the movies that the DVDs contain and whatever they are labeled as is something i dont care about. I just enjoy pulling out any disney dvd pop it in and enjoy without thinking what is the box labeled as? The movies are the most important thing for me contained on these small discs.

On the Classic list, I'm not missing any of them (apart from the unreleased ones....)

To complete my Disney (animated) DVD collection, I'm only missing

MM in Living Colour and Lion King 2

The only re-released DVD that I'm missing is the original Mulan LE (I even have the original BatB Enchanted Christmas!)

I have The Little Mermaid Limited Issue :)

I am SO close to hunting Mulan and Lady and the Tramp Limited Issues off of ebay....but I am literally counting the days till we get these on 2-disc. I know Mulan has a huge chance to become a Masterpiece edition soon, and Lady and the Tramp will be a platinium.

The Lady and the Tramp limited issue is a "wider widescreen" (the bars are bigger than most Disney dvds) so my guess is that is the OAR. Does anyone know if the platinium will be that format too, or are they going to change it to the other smaller-bar style of widescreen? I hope they don't change it, because I like that movie wide. The reason I ask, is because the only other Disney dvd I can think of in that "wider widescreen" is Sleeping Beauty.

"Lady and the Tramp" was the first animated movie ever done in the wide CinemaScope format (the reason for the big bars is because the picture is bigger than usual). The DVD will probably have the original aspect ratio version plus a reformated full screen version (produced for the original theatrical release as an alternate version for theaters that couldn't run CinemaScope).
The other Disney films made in CinemaScope:
Sleeping Beauty (in this case Technirama)
The Black Cauldron
A Bug's Life
Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Brother Bear

I would generally agree with you. However, with Disney doing such a poor job on the original transfers, in terms of dust, scratches, and faded colors, I am very much looking for the special editions. The movies themselves are very important, but I also enjoy appreciating the beautiful animation and artwork just as much.
